Part 3: Breathtaking views and rugged tracks of Mount Cook 🏔️🇳🇿

It was unknown to me the Mount Cook, Hooker Valley walk had three swing bridges 🌉 to cross, the experience along with the rocks 🪨, rivers flows and waterfalls along the way is are simply breathtaking, perhaps breathtaking is an understatement.

There are always great rewards in terms of views in some of the walks I have done in New Zealand 🇳🇿 so I knew the view when we get to Hooker Valley is going to be worth the three hours return walk.

We had walked for 1:40 minutes on the 30th of November 2024, and the temperature was dropping. From experience, my friend being a local adviced we might get caught with temperature drop significantly within a short time and we were not wearing warm enough.

So, just after crossing the third swing bridge 🌉 we decided to turn back and made it our goal to return to have the walk completed.

As at the time of writing this post, we returned to Mount Cook on the 6th of January to complete the walk, and oh my, it was worth every moment.

Photos of the making it to Hooker Valley Lake, Mount Cook will follow in a few days as I am currently away on holiday to Milford Sound, which is another gorgeous adventure on its own.

I lived in Auckland for nine years but travelled extensively all around the North and South Islands.

Wow sounds interesting, I am based in Christchurch, it's my 14th month in NZ, I also travel a lot but only in the South Island region for now.
Auckland is the only place I have been to in the North Island, maybe the job might require me to work in the North Island in the future but I prefer South Island though.

Another thing is that it is a very busy walk with lots of tourist, there seem to be lots of French people and Asians it is so amazing how we are all walking towards the valley 😀.

Photo on the swing bridge looking up the river with the peaks in the background breathtaking beauty. South Island by far the place to be for open spaces no matter where you go.

The beauty of South Island is unbelievable, looking at the mountains of Milford Sound all I could say to my friend was God was showing off by creating such beautiful landscapes and it is similar to Mt Cook as well.
