Hike #34a: The Żywiec Beskids - Day One (Poland)

in Photography Lovers3 years ago (edited)

Welcome to the next episode of photo-series dedicated to hiking adventures. This time I will take you for a three day long trek in the Żywiec Beskids - a mountain range in southern Poland (the second highest mountains of this country). How was it? Check it out. Here comes the first day😉

It is half past seven in the morning, waiting for a train in Polish city Tychy. Here is my rucksack with trekking poles, sleeping bag, camping mat and some other stuff. Standard and Okay weight, one would say.

Two hours later, I am already on my way. The train dropped me off in a town Cięcina. This is a meadow you can find around.

I need to have a short break after rushing from the town. While having a snack, out of the blue a couple of pastoral dogs surprise me with their visit. Luckily, they seem to be friendly.

First panoramas. I do not like these clouds though!
IMG_20210613_110250.jpg

It is already a noon. At Skała mountain now (946m).
IMG_20210613_121622.jpg

Need to be careful as puddles can sometimes be pretty deep.
IMG_20210613_122202.jpg

Having a beer at chalet (schronisko in Polish) Słowianka (~845m). Pretty popular spot with tourists.

It is June and this orchid is still in blossom. Mountain Romanka (1366m) in the background.
IMG_20210613_130917.jpg

Looks like this butterfly of genus Argynnis loves being photographed.
IMG_20210613_133256.jpg

A pretty rare find! No kidding, this slug (bielzia coerulans) can be found only in Carpathians.
IMG_20210613_135459.jpg

Still climbing up. According to map, this beautiful place is called Wieperska (~1000m).
IMG_20210613_141547.jpg

Nice views with plenty of blueberry bush.
IMG_20210613_141605.jpg

I wonder how to easily get to that info-table.
IMG_20210613_142121.jpg

A random spring.
IMG_20210613_142743.jpg

My sharp eye observes this unknown rodent in a thicket.
IMG_20210613_144549.jpg

Nearly 3 pm, finally reaching the mountain ridge (~1190m). The aforementioned Romanka mountain on the right-hand side.
IMG_20210613_145402.jpg

Landscape photo. The mountains far away on the horizon, these could be Silesian Beskids / Park Krajobrazowy Beskidu Śląskiego.
IMG_20210613_145820.jpg

The mountain in the middle of this shot (the highest one), that is where I am heading - Pilsko (1557m). Another high mountain, the one on the left, that could be Babia Góra (1725 m).

IMG_20210613_151745.jpg

Next time I need to buy myself a horse. Parking lot is located right next to chalet Rysianka (~1260m).
IMG_20210613_152055.jpg

If you are lucky with weather, you can catch stunning views here. And the refreshment is also very cool - beer with cabbage soup. Although this chalet and its area are very popular with tourists, it has still plenty of benches and room for picnics, so you can always sit and enjoy some views with food and drink.
IMG_20210613_152841.jpg

Meadows right below the chalet offer awesome views if the weather allows it. The closer mountains could be the Orava Beskids. On the left, you could see Pilsko mountain. Far away on the horizon (on the right) - Malá Fatra I would say. And when the weather is better than today, Tatras are visible too. Next time then!

Going through the woods abundant in... blueberries😄
IMG_20210613_161146.jpg

Marsh marigold - a beautiful plant which loves waterlogged habitats, unlike my drenched hiking boots.
IMG_20210613_172323.jpg

At 5 pm, this buddy welcomes me at chalet Miziowa (~1300m) beneath the mountain Pilsko. I will have one beer, buy some fluid supplies and set out for my last climb of the day.
IMG_20210613_175618.jpg

Panorama during the climb. Bloody hell, the clouds do not look very well.
IMG_20210613_181828.jpg

IMG_20210613_182010.jpg

Nice road though.
IMG_20210613_182546.jpg

IMG_20210613_182855.jpg

If there was no cloud cover, views would be extraordinary.
IMG_20210613_183831.jpg

Cross on the mountain Pilsko (1557 m). Unsurprisingly, I am all alone here😅

IMG_20210613_193259.jpg

And now I am ready to turn in. It is gonna be tough night as it is pretty windy already now, not mentioning possible rain showers. Good night then😆

Here is the itinerary of this day.

I must admit I felt some pain in my knees...

...as there was some climbing up (1743m) and down (591m).

Beskid, Zywiec, Tatra, atd.). Zvaž někdy vyjet z velkoměsta do PL-hor a třeba se tam potkáme🙃

Awesome, that is my style!

😲 Thanks Andy, happy I found the right tune you like😉

Hi @onlavu,
Great to see you using the #travelfeed tag! We launched the #travelfeed curated tag more than 3 years ago and have been supporting the best travel blogs on Hive ever since. But did you know that TravelFeed has evolved? Based on the feedback of thousands of Hive travel bloggers we created TravelFeed.io.

TravelFeed.io brings together all the benefits of Hive decentralized blogging with features that you as a travel blogger will love: Photo galleries, Instagram embeds, custom maps, automated adding to Pinmapple and more. We also offer many of the features you love on Peakd such as drafts and post scheduling. And if you want, you can even use our easy site builder to set up your own travel blog on your own domain which can be a great way to generate a passive income from your blog!

Unfortunately, focussing on developing the best platform for travelers means that we no longer curate the #travelfeed tag. But, you can log in with your Hive account on TravelFeed.io to publish your next travel post, and it will be posted to Hive automatically! Every day, we select the best posts and reward them with an upvote and added visibility.

We would love to see you on TravelFeed.io soon :)
