Bees are very hard workers.

They say that it takes 12 bees their entire lives to produce 1 teaspoon of honey.

I was stunned when I read the facts about bees in the URL Source below.

There are 10 facts about bees in the URL, and fact number 7 states this.

SEVEN
The average worker bee lives for just five to six weeks. During this time, she’ll produce around a twelfth of a teaspoon of honey.

We visited the Simply Bee farm shop in a town called Hopefield some time ago, and I shared some of their activities and products in a post on my blog at the time.
Now I took shots of this bee swarm working on a Century Agave across the road from our house, and I could hear that particular zoom sound when bees enmass are pollinating close by.

So, come and watch the action.

You can see that this is the top part of the century agave plant.

The century agave plant is also very interesting, as when this high stem dries up and falls over, then the main plant below dies. You can read about the Century Agave plant on google and you will be amazed. Century means a hundred years, but in fact they take about 15 years to mature.

"Flowering is a spectacular event: the plant becomes deflated as it rapidly sends forth a towering inflorescence / flowering pole that can be up to 10 meters tall". Century plants are not originally from here, as they come from the USA, Mexico, and South America.

Interestingly, the bees only come to the flowers on this plant in the later afternoon while the plant is still bathed in sunshine. As soon as the sun starts moving off one of the flowers, the bees move to the sunshine filled flowers of this plant.

It seems that the specific agave flowers will attract specific pollinators, and bees have a very strong sense of smell. This particular agave releases its nectar in the late afternoon / early evening, and the bees come in to party.

I am, or I think was, allergic to bee stings, as I ended up in hospital on 3 occasions after being stung. A doctor told me that one can start to build up a natural resistance to bee stings, and I think that he was correct, as after yet another sting, nothing happened. No swelling of my face and neck, and no choking for breath. But I am not too concerned about it, as I love bees, and I like honey.
Such is life.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the story.

The facts about bees are truly fantastic. They provide enormous benefits to human health from the honey they produce.

Indeed, and that's why I decided to share a bit of the facts. You are correct, as honey is very healthy.

I never realized how much work bees do just to produce a tiny bit of honey. It makes me appreciate bees even more. I’d love to see a bee farm in person someday.

Well, now you know, and yes, bees are to be appreciated for all that they do for mankind. I am sure that you will find a bee farm very interesting.

Nature at its best. Thank you for reminder and lovely photos.

Thank you, and my pleasure to share the reminder. Thank you also for the tip.

This is amazing photo of bees, here in the Philippines I only see one bee in a flower. And the common bee here is a bit small.

Thank you, and maybe you must import some real honeybees from South Africa. !LOL

Bees are fascinating! In Brazil we have a lot of stingless bees with different flavors of honey. Adorable.

Fascinating indeed, and we do the same with stingless bees here in South Africa. The different flavors of honey are caused by the bees pollinating different sets of flowers. !LOL

I love bees
And Love honey more

Great that you love bees and honey. !LOL

Bees put in a lot of hard work to produce honey, making their contribution highly valuable. Their role in pollination also supports biodiversity and food production. Honey offers numerous health benefits to our bodies. I also love its natural sweetness, which makes it a delicious and healthier alternative to refined sugar.

I agree with all that you said, and without bees mankind will be doomed.

It is a fact that many of them also work hard and when they come together they make something beautiful and whenever we all do any work together then all of us must succeed in this world.

There is a saying that goes; "United we shall stand and divided we shall fall." The bees teach us that.

Yeah you are right.

Wow! Your photography is amazing!

That's a nice plant... I always wondered how much painful is a bee sting

Thank you, and a bee sting burns a bit, but I am allergic to bee stings, and all that I can remember is that whenever a bee stings me, my face gets swollen, and my throat closes. So, then I cannot breathe or see.
!PIZZA

you need medicine for that if that happens for sure!

Oh yes, Celestamine is a Cortizone tablet, and it works very well to prevent the poison in the stings.

Woow! the bees are so beautiful to look at , the bees are really different now that they are on the farm form each other.

I am not sure what you mean about the bee differences, but they are indeed lovely to look at. !LOL

I wonder What they are doing there? do they make honey ? Aren't they in the big tree?

They are collecting pollen from the flowers in the tree, and then they take it back to their hive for the pollen to be processed into honey.

It blows my mind but a medical researcher told me that things like poison ivy and bee stings, that illicit a bad reaction, can actually change our dna. I am sure I am explaining it badly but that change can build immunity or it can make it so the reaction is worse!

Anyhow, I will opt for an EpiPen and love for bees for how essential they are for our survival!

Oh yeah, I have also heard something like that before, but I don't know how effective it will be if a swarm of bees attack one. We have some cases of deaths from bee stings occasionally in the news, and that's why my wife has a stock of Celestamine pills in her bag.

Same as you, we also have a great love and appreciation for bees.

Bees are buzzing tirelessly from flower to flower ensuring our world stays in bloom and balanced. Oh sorry to hear that you ended up in the hospital. I hope you're well now😊

Bees are essential for mankind to survive, and the last sting that I had from a bee was some years ago. So, I am well now thank you. !LOL

Absolutely! they are providing support of a healthy planet. Oh that sting was some years ago! hahaha😃Okay, take care and have a good day😍

The bees are such wonderful and hardworking creatures.

Absolutely and we will not survive if bees were to disappear from this earth.

The plant provides a lot of flower nectar so that bees can suck the flower nectar. Of course, it takes a lot of bees to produce one spoonful of honey.😁

What happens is that bees also collect pollen that they distribute to other flowers that they help to grow.

These are very useful and important insects. Their demise can lead to the destruction of nature as a whole, as they participate in a shared ecosystem.

So true and I agree, as bees play an important role in the eco-system across the world. Let's pray that they will never depart from nature, as then human life will be doomed.

Woww amazing picture!!

Your pics are awesome!😍

What a great shot!

Thank you for the compliment. !PIZZA

Wow, That's fascinating! It's amazing how the bees are so attuned to the sunlight and adjust their behavior accordingly. Nice shots!

Thank you, and like all of nature's residents, the bees also react to the sunlight. !LOL

Very beautiful photography ♥️♥️
