Studio Shooting

I recently posted some work from our studio shooting for a furniture client. It was nice to see the post well received and some positive feedback and special thanks to ocdb for a generous curation. I normally post in ASEAN community but I think for today I will share some more of my photography assignments here and a little explanation of each one. So my good friend Mikko is a Finnish chef withe two very cool restaurants in Krabi, Thailand. He had an idea to start selling some of his sauces and spice rubs online and asked if I could do a little photo shoot for him. This was something new for me but we had a look online for some ideas and did our best. We experimented with backgrounds and props and took oads. Here are a few examples of the end results....

Next shoot was for Island Boards. Again we were asked to provide product photography for their surfskateboards. We have also done lifestyle shoots for them and their awesome boards but for today I would like to just present the product shots that we made for their online webshop. We chose black background again with dark glass for the reflections...

Lastly I would like to finish up with some more of the furniture shoot that we were working on for my last post. We have shot the entire range now and I am busy building the website for the client. I think the photos turned out very well and the white laminate we ordered for this shoot was a game changer for the subtle reflections that we wanted to achieve.

Once again I do love studio shooting because you have time to get the setup just right and experiment with lighting and reflections. I hope my photos are worthy of this community as I am very humbled by the talent I see here. I will leave you with one image from our last setup as were shooting the biggest pieces inside the showroom. Hope everybody had a great weekend and a productive week ahead!

I know nothing about photography in terms of product shoots but I can admire what I see. I really like the white laminate you chose for the reflection purposes. With my untrained eye I would not have noticed the reflections of the furniture had you not drawn my eye to it. The sauces, well, you've made me want to order them because they look and sound delicious 😋.

The white laminate does work beautifully and I have started to add those furniture images to the webshop I am building for them. Sauces turned out great and cool thing was - I got to keep them and they didn't last long. I can confirm all were delicious.

It is amazing to me how something as simple as a bottle of sauce can be made to look so exotic with just the right lighting and surroundings. I was once watching a video on how they will use things like glue on a pizza to make the cheese look stretchy-er in the photos.

Do you often do work like this?

Food shooting is an art in myself and something quite new to me. I do know professional food shooters use all kinds of tricks to get the right effect but I must confess I have not dabbled too much in it.
