I won't say that the Italian Floating city Venice was always my dream location to visit but I would say, I wanted to go there once in my life to see the actual city. When I was a kid, I learned about Venice from the calendar. Back then we had a paper calendar that we used to hang on the wall to know the date because we didn't have mobile phones. So, on those calendars, there used to be different pictures of different cities and countries and that's how I came to know about Venice city. Then when I was an architectural student, I got the chance to know and learn about Venice City, its history, and architecture. Well, now I forgot most of the part of learning but never forgot about the city.
So, when we started planning a tour to Italy last year, I told the agent/tour guide about my wish to go to Venice. At first, she agreed and later after a few weeks, she informed me that she couldn't provide the tour to Venice, the reason was the road. She told me that the road was under construction. Anyway, we started having arguments because of the language barrier. She can't speak English and I can't speak her language Ukrainian so the language barrier created huge misunderstandings.
At some point, she stopped replying to me but till then I already gave her deposit money. So, when I realized that the conversation was not going smoothly, I asked my friend to talk to her because I paid for the Venice trip. Later, my friend contacted her and solved this issue and then the tour guide finally started saying that she could manage the tour to Venice with extra money. Anyway, finally we managed a trip to Venice...
Our trip to Venice was hectic and we went to Venice from Genoa city, not from Milan. From Genoa to Venice, it took 4 hours by road but if we went to Venice from Milan, it would have been only 2 hours journey. Because of the city's location and distance to Venice, we had to pay extra money for Venice. To be honest, I didn't mind paying extra money to Venice because I was the one who pushed the tour guide to manage a trip to Venice and I was happy I did that. Later the two Ukrainian groups were happy as well and I came to know that when the tour guide offered extra money for Venice, they didn't mind paying at all. We started our journey early morning without having breakfast but all of us were super excited.
Venice city itself is a landmark, a city that carries the history of the different dynasties and eras. So, today I am going to share some photos with you before writing the entire trip experience.
We had a tour guide for 2 hours. Because of her, we got a short tour of Venice, learned about its history, and came out from the thousands of alleys safely. Why I am saying safely? During our Salt Mine tour in Krakow, I got lost and the tour guide figured out that I was not at the place where I was supposed to be. I was not actually lost, I was somewhere else. A similar situation happened in Venice, During our walking tour, I was feeling thirsty so I got out of the group and went to the nearby store to buy water. The tour guide figured out I was not there and she started looking for me... When I returned she said, I should be more careful before doing anything like this otherwise if the group left without me, I would have been stuck here in Venice forever. Because the narrow streets in Venice are very difficult to understand and a tourist can easily get lost...
Unfortunately, I am not a good follower when it comes to following the group during a trip...
I stop here and there to take photos and get lost easily.
The tour guide lady of Venice walked so fast or I guess I was too tired of walking for 2 hours. At one point, I told her to take a break because my leg was hurting. During summer, Venice city becomes overcrowded because of tourists. It was also difficult for me to follow our group because of the huge crowd and other groups were there. Due to the crowd, our guide had decided to show us some less crowded narrow streets and architecture.
The city is actually unique and beautiful. I wonder what Venice city looked like during Covid time, must have been so nice...
I selected some of the best photos of Venice city for this post to showcase the city before writing the detailed post...
There are a few more stories regarding my Venice trip which I am going to share in my next post. Obviously, without drama, a group trip is boring. All of our drama happened in Venice, lol... The fun fact is, I can't even remember half of the history and architecture of the city that the tour guide explained... So, I am hoping I will be able to remember when I will start writing that travel post.
I hope you have enjoyed these photographs. I had fallen behind several times from the group during our tour because of these photos...
Photos were taken from the different corners of Venice city...

Oooo lovely colours and reflections in the water. I have no patience with tour guides as I mentally switch off after a few minutes.
Personally, I also do not prefer tour guides for specific locations but our group was big, around 20 people. Moreover, Venice is a critical city when it comes to exploring, only locals can easily understand those narrow streets. Streets are known as house numbers and it's so weird like a spider web...
I did that while walking, didn't even pay attention to what she was saying... 😀
I think I was over estimating my listening skills. Even two minutes might have been too long. I would have got lost though, if I had strayed too far.
🤣 True indeed and that's why she lost me several times and I had fallen behind. 90% of her explanation I didn't even listen... Besides she was talking too fast, and I couldn't keep up with her...
You probably didn't miss much. 😄
🤣
Venice, the city of lovers, is also on my list of places to visit with my camera. Very nice photos and thanks for the inspiration.
You will definitely get some beautiful shots in Venice and I am sure you will instantly fall in love with the city and it's fascinating history...
Gosh! This is like a dreem come true for you being able to travel without caring about the cost shows how enthusiastic you are toward Venice. And I am glad the language barrier stuff was settled.
About not staying with the crowd, I get. Which sane person would want to do that with a camera in hand. Hehe.
Yes and when I came back to the Netherlands, my bank account was completely empty 🤣. I haven't written the full experience, gonna write about it soon hopefully.
Exactly, after all, I was not gonna come back to Venice again soon, might be once in lifetime tour... Thanks, dear for stopping by...
Wawu! I'll check in to get the gist. Won't want to miss out on your reaction. Hehe
That's right. Might be a once in a lifetime tour. Hehe, the tour guide should be happy you are creating memories. You are welcome 😁
She was annoyed because she had fixed 2 2-hour walk and because of me, she had to give us extra hours. 🤣
🤣🤣🤣. Well, she'd have you in her memory and that's nice!
I like to see this unknown image of Venice, it seemed to me to be there mounted on a gondola travelling the narrow streets. 😍
Ah yes, true. With Gondola riding, it's possible to explore more but like I said, we had a drama in Venice so it was about Gondola Riding. I am sure you will love Venice if you visit it...
Venice is a story, it's architecture, it's an art, and yes, I think I should come here whenever I get the chance.
I also visited Venice and I didn't limit myself to that, I also visited the islands of Murano and Burano.
Have a wonderful week ahead.
Murano and Burano someone suggested to us but we didn't have enough time because it was a day trip and we had to travel a total of 8 hours for Venice (Genoa to Venice and then again back to Genoa). I heard those Islands are beautiful as well.
Me too besides next time I am gonna get Original Murano Glass Decors...
I recommend you to visit them, and yes, you really need a whole day.
In the visit I made there, I also included a visit to a Murano glass factory, you will realize that I also left there with a horse made of Murano glass.
Have a wonderful week.
This is actually nice, thanks for such a great suggestion. I hope I will be able to plan for another trip to Italy...
You're welcome!
lovely snaps! lovely city
Hello @ivansnz, good to see you. How are you? It's been a while since we last spoke. I hope you are well and thank you so much for the compliment. I hope you are having a nice easter weekend...
Im good, how are you? true, nice to see you are consistent on hive 😎
So same girl..!! I'm also bad at following because i have to stop at places to take photos.
We go to nice places to take photos right? Because who knows we might get the chance to go back there or not...
I thought I was doing something strange but I guess almost everyone feels the same way as me...
Exactly who knows when life will end.so Save memories like you do.
Nice photos. Venice looks stunning!
Thank you so much, indeed Venice is a beautiful city to explore...
Back then... are we really that old?? lol
I can related to losing the group with tours. They give you no time to actually look at all the details of a place, especially if you have a creative eye and want to take tons of pictures. And like @ellenripley said, I switch off, too. I want to care about what they're telling me, but.... I don't.
Beautiful photos!!
I guess I am getting old, whenever I see the new generation, I feel like an age-old fella... 🤣
That's the actual disadvantage, they talk, explain, and then start walking again. I can't do everything together and I can't focus on what they are saying when the group is huge in a crowded spot. I understand that they have limited time and also our tour guide was exhausted because per day she attends a minimum of 3-4 groups in Venice during summer. It's exhausting for them and for us too.
Me too but I can't...
I can't imagine having to answer the same questions over and over, too, and act like it's the first time they've ever heard it and pretend to be so excited to answer.
Definitely a job I never want!
These pictures are worthy of postcards, I remembered reading your post the stress of traveling on tours, the interesting thing is that the guides give valuable information ... I congratulate you for the quality of your content, I send you a hug!
Yes, they explain and give information that we actually don't know. Unfortunately, I felt distracted and exhausted because of the 2 hours long walk in Venice. I will write more details in my next and final post on Venice. I am glad you liked these photos.
Thank you and have a nice week...
Venice is one of the most beautiful places that can be seen on traveler postcards.
She congratulated him for having managed to visit that city, it is a collection of very beautiful images.
Thank you so much.
Yes absolutely and to be honest, the city is just gorgeous. I can complain about a few things, for example, a huge crowd, no space for sitting and thieves are all over the place. But despite these advantages, this is an absolutely stunning city...
Beautiful photos!
Waiting for the other stories :)

Venice is a historic city many people would like to visit. Your personal connection to Venice, from your childhood memories to your architectural studies, adds depth to your account. I'm sure more people want to visit now.
Thank you for such a nice compliment. I wanted to write my own experiences so that people could relate to me. I am glad that I could create a new perspective about Venice. Thank you and have a good week...
✨Oh Venice!✨ The City of Canals. I love the photos, you captured it perfectly.
I hope the tour didn't ruin your visit in Venice. I've been traveling a few times, and I can say that traveling solo is a lot more exciting. I'd rather get lost than follow a group of people. Feels like tour groups are for elderly, lol. It's also time-constrained, so there's not much opportunity to fully appreciate the experience.
I'm so intrigued about the drama, waiting for part 2 😆
Exactly and our group was 18 Ukrainians so our tour agent decided to provide a guide in Venice so that we all stay together. The city is big and very different, it's like a spider web city so just in case we don't get lost, we were provided a Venice tour guide. Solo tours are always nice, much opportunity to explore...
Have you been to Venice? Thank you so much for stopping by...
A big group tour means drama...
Your shots are reall beautiful and inspiring
Thank you so much, I tried my best to portray the best version of Venice...
Have a nice week...
you're welcome friend!!! Thank you
Ahh, I remember some of the places from your pics so well, like I was there yesterday!! Venice is definitely hard to forget. It's an experience that will always stay within your heart!
Yes, dear, you wrote posts about your Venice trip with some amazing photos. I remember you also highlighted a few key points of Venice and the unique features of the city. I also have tons of photos, need to sort them out. I already forgot the name of the spots 🤣
Exactly...
I know the feeling haha. That's why I always write down on a notepad everything I see especially outside my country where I'm not familiar with the names 😀
I will try this method next time... 😀 I can't even pronounce the name of many locations...
Same!!!
The place looks lovely😘
I bet the tour guide got tired of you at some point 🤣
She was and I am sure she won't forget me easily... 😁
