Eventhough in some parts of Indonesia, that isn't even free at all anymore. Some spaces have been commercialized and you have to pay and entrance fee to some waterfall or just a hill overlooking the ocean.

I've read Italy municipals have applied the same policy, monetizing any spots valuable capturing -- it was a common practice there at the beginning of XX century. (Not sure when things changed). I deeply consider that to be a rotten policy.

Yes! I disagree with that policy as well especially when it's nature. And people gets weird these days even in public places. Sometimes even asking for permission can be complicated.
