We are stilling pulling leaves off these herbs for cooking, but more and more are going to flower. We can still use them for cooking, but I find their appearance during flowering quite interesting. So I captured some pictures of the herbs along with some of their flowers in a series of pictures. Using my Panasonic Lumix GH6 and its macro lens I think I got some good shots.
The day was clearing up, with storms heading out of the area it was time for these plants to enjoy the sunlight coming through the clouds.

This bergamont plant has not done much, sharing a pot with two other plants may have something to do with that.
We can see basil here bolting, those little hairs at the middle of the leaf are getting ready to bud.
Something about that vibrant green against the purple is so pretty.
We can see the basil oils on the flower close up. Those little dots are probably the aroma of basil.
The rosemary is coming along as well, getting bigger. I wonder if I should put it in the ground so it can hopefully survive the winter.
Some more basil flowers, whatever this kind of basil is it sure loves to bolt..lol
Many shades of green in these plants.
One of the basil plants got its own pot, and its massive. Next year we plan on splitting up more plants so each have their own pot.
Thyme can be seen growing above, such tiny leaves. I may be able to plant this during the fall as well
Coneflower leaves are forming but no buds yet.
Savory has bolted as well, looks a little different than the basil plants.
Purple basil above, turning a little green.
Another purple basil plant, doing the same.. Not sure why they are turning back to green.
Its cool getting up close and seeing the leaves details.
Just something special about these little flower spires on the basil plants.
Some of the leaves on the bergamont are shedding. But it also shot off new growth at the base, so maybe its focusing on that.
I planted a bunch of lavender plants, and many of them are getting bigger. Got some pictures of them as well.
A close up of the leaves, looks a little different from rosemary.
Really hoping these little guys survive the winter. If they do, they should be good for years to come.
I think I will start move lavender seeds to replace the ones that did not do well after transplanting. Will do that this winter inside.
Some of the plants have more than 2-3x increased in size so I have faith they will do good.
Its been hard work keeping the weeds at bay around them, but eventually they will be big enough to shrug them off.
The color of some of them are a little more blueish, Hopefully I did not mix up a rosemary plant for a lavender..lol
All of the herbs around here are doing well, and looking forward to a few more months of growth this year. Hopefully the lavender will survive the winter, and maybe I will plant that rosemary and thyme as well. But for now everything is growing and I am very happy with the results. The only thing I would do differently is have more pots, so plants are not sharing the same dirt.

Nice!
There is something special about your own herb garden no matter the size. I find them easy to grow, early and often to harvest, relatively maintenance free, and then the freshness makes any cooking that much more delicious.
You have quite the variety of herbs and so much cool basil. Mine is struggling a bit this year because of the consistent rain but I have secured the help of a little gardener to help out. ;)
Good herbing old friend!
Thanks, there sure is. So nice to have cuttings from the garden.
Aww well hopefully yours dry up a little, I think we have been over watering ours too.
Hehe cute gnome
You’re doing well with your garden project. Among the herbs that you planted, the one that I’m most familiar with the taste us Basil, but I didn’t know that there’s a purple type, is there any difference with the usual green ones like French basil?
Thank you, oh nice.. We like the basil a lot too. Yep they indeed do have a purple variety.
Not sure the flavor is any different, but I would hope they have additional nutritional values to them. Purple plants tend to have extra goodies inside.
I believe so too, I learned from a quick Google search that purple vegetables & fruits contain anthocyanins; it is said to help protect cells from damage. Sounds good to me :)
Plants of various shapes, and maybe the plant will look ordinary at first glance, but when you have photographed it beautifully and the details of the image of the plant already look so perfect and beautiful, extraordinary work my brother ♥️
Yep many kinds of plants in my garden, glad you liked the pictures I captured.
♥️
You captured it well, showing the amazing growth of each herb. 😊 I like how lively the looks of its flowers.😊
Ah glad you liked them.. they sure are growing well.
Yes I did..😊😊 It was because the effort you invest on it.😊
You photographed the plant perfectly, which at first looked ordinary but now its appearance is very amazing.
thanks, I tried to capture the moment in a bunch of pictures.
I love seeing the great growth that your aromatic plants are having, the lavenders and the purple basil look great
I hope that the lavender plants are not affected when winter comes, dear friend @solominer
Excellent shots, enjoy the weekend
Much appreciated, I am really thankful by all that is coming along here too.
Hopefully they indeed survive the winter.
Hi @solominer
You are doing a great job with your plants, especially because you put them to good use in the kitchen
It's great to see that the bergamot plants are sprouting new shoots, I love the growth of the rosemary plants, it's great to see them
Great to know that the results are as expected
Hey there.. thanks! They sure are useful, and glad for all the new growth.
Wow, those are looking really good! I would love to have a small herb garden at some point. I'm not sure what I would grow. I've just never had a ton of luck with herbs, but then again I tend to kill everything, so it probably doesn't matter what I plant!
Ah thank you, well a small herb garden would be the smallest of gardens to have so its pretty manageable. As long as you dont kill them.. lol
I can't get the right amount of water ever. I either drown them or starve them. It's so hard for me.
if you can have events in your calendar on your phone you can help remind when to water.. and that way you cannot over water knowing when its time.
Yes, that is a possibility. Assuming I am even home! We are on the road quite a bit in the summer.
Amazing.. looking beautiful..cheers
Thanks a lot
This is the first time I've seen purple basil, you're amazing for taking good care of your herbal plants, my brother. These photos are very interesting. Thank you for sharing, my brother @solominer
Ah nice, yeah the purple basil is nice. Much appreciated, I think they came out good too.
