Sunset at the cemetery

Sunset at the cemetery

Good Morning and have a great day

Today I will share a few shots of a semi recent visit tot he Oak grove Cemetery here in New Bedford
We had an afternoon when for a change the temp was reasonable at 45F, minimal eind and no rain as it got close to sunset, I decided to go catch the cunset, and since the Cemtery is a short walk from where we live I decided to head there

A little about the cemetery

The Oak Grove Cemetery is a historic cemetery on Parker Street in New Bedford, Massachusetts. It consists of two parcels, separated by Parker Street, northwest of the city's central business district. The older portion of the cemetery, that south of Parker Street, was established in 1843, while the northern section was acquired and developed between 1870 and 1896. Most of the cemetery is laid out in the then-fashionable rural cemetery style of winding lanes, although the northernmost section has a more open layout, made partly due to complaints about the cluttered nature of the rural cemetery style
If my sense of direction is on track these shots were taken inthe South end of the cemetery ie the older portion

It wasnt a spectacular sunset by any means but we did get some nice wam colors along the horizon

I know some people find it creepy going into a cemetery, especially in or approaching when it is dark, but I have never felt that way , I enjoy the peace and quiet and find myself checking out the headstones and thinking about how life was for them back in their day, when in an older cemtery like this one, of course so much has changed since there times, especially in regards to technology, some of which has made life easier for us, and some perhaps made things crazier and worse, look at the internet and social media, for exapmle, some people on social media can be so toxic and nasty, thinking they know better than everyone

and the growth of Memes and such, which people share freely whether true or fake, and so many people seem to think a meme from some stranger they do not even know is more factual that unbiased studies on the mater, but let me stop here before this becomes a rant

Speaking of rants, my wife had a little one after this walk, carrying my camera bag and tripod for this walk aggrivated my shoulder a little, and it was throbbing when I got home, I didnt let on to my wife and waited till she settled into bed for the night and put on an ice pack.
NOw i must say probably 99% or more I never lie to my wife, but I didnt want to tell her going out with the camera was aggrivating my shoulder, or she may not be keen on me gettign out for photo walks as the weather improves. so I didnt lie as such, I just failed to mention my shoulder was hurting so not really a lie :)

but she got up to go tot he bathroom, I had headphones on watchign TV and didnt hear her come out so she spotted me with the ice pack on and didnt exactly rant but she did let me know her concerns, now this is where i perhaps did lie or at least stretched the truth, and said its really not bad, just after exercising it a bit I decided to put the ice pack on to reduce the chance of it gettign painful.

But as it happens yesterday as I prepare this post, so a week ago as you read it I was convincing myself my shoulder was doing better, and i went to put a small and fairly light package on a bench by our dining room table, and moved it in a way my shoulder didnt like, had to dropt hepqackage luckily it wasnt breakable, and the pain was intense.

Five minutes later when I could move my arm and the pain had eased i was on the phone to have my general Dr refer me to an Orthopedic Dr, so lets see what he says

Absolutely stunning photos
Wishing you a speedy recovery from your shoulder injury.

Hello dear friend @tattoodjay, good day.

How great that you went out for a walk and took these photos. Your cemetery is very interesting to see.

Beautiful and colorful shots.

Have a great day.

They say we should not find it creepy passing by at the cemetery as they are all dead.

But, be afraid at 7/11 as this is the common place for pagpag

A part of our tradition not to go home straight if came from wake visit. So most of the time we stop over usually at 7/11 since it's open esp at night 🤣.

So yeah souls are whatever is was left here, maybe 😆

Hello Mr. @tattoodjay

I don't really like cemeteries, much less living near them, although this cemetery doesn't look so gloomy.

Beautiful photographs.

I don't see it as cluttered or creepy. It looks quite wide open and natural :)

Your wife won't be able to complain, since you are getting your shoulder looked at

I love old cemeteries, just so quiet and peaceful. Sorry to hear about the shoulder, but do anything possible to rehab it unless you have a torn rotator cuff. Surgery can make things worse at times!

As far as the wife goes I'm sure she understood. Having been married before I know exactly what you were thinking! lol
