Oh nice! Your own new seed, that must be exciting. At first I though maybe you found it in a supply you bought elsewhere, as it happened to me once, but as I read on, I understood your excitement even more.
Good luck with it. Does it matter where it turns out a male or a female?
Hi @fantagira,
Thank you for the kind words!
Yes this is very special to me because it was a purposeful pollination between two known cannabis genetics. So this will be a new strain with verifiable genetics :)
It's always good to keep seeds you find in cannabis no matter where it comes from in my opinion. The best weed I've ever grown in my life was from some bag seed with unknown origins. It's also nice to learn with seeds that you didn't have to pay extra for :)
In this case it kind of does matter. I'm hoping for a female, and I'll be able to clone it for a mother plant for more clones. With that clone I can seed more plants.
If it turns out male but I also get more seeds that turn out female it will also be ok. The goal is to create as many seeds as possible with the new genetics so I can establish a stock of new seeds for the new genetic.
The females produce the buds so we always strive for female plants, but males are needed to pollinate.
I know so little of growing these, so I gave the seed I found to a friend who knows what she’s doing 😉
One day I’ll try to grow it myself, but I need to learn a lot before I try 😁
