The banality of cancel culture and the pendulum swing.

Frist off let's start by saying i am 100% against cancel culture, in any form, and i am a feverous supporter of free speech. I do not believe in limits on speech, it is hard or almost impossible to put limits to such laws, and a good case is Tommy Robinson in the UK, where he was arrested for calling out child predators on the street.

Having said that, it is still refreshing to see a lot of people get fired for supporting Trump assassination attempt. It is the backslash for previous actions, getting banned for asking questions, questioning genetic therapy, the validity of masks, all this was censored and people suffered tremendous amounts of retribution for their stance on this issues, many being banned from social media (HIVE solves this) and fired from their jobs.

Now the tables are turned and a good case for this are teachers and others in place of power.

It is important to note that 2/3s of democrat voters in the USA wanted to put unvaxed people in house arrest and around 45% wanted them to be closed in a camp.

So having said this, you may found the conundrum, if you did not, i will get back to the first line of this text, "100% against cancel culture" i mean, i still DON'T agree with this teacher be banned, this might seem odd but i think it is a case of coherence, i cannot say i dont believe in something and then support anyone being canceled, even if it is someone with whom i share no political affinity, i simply don't. I would rather all the extremists and stupid people in the world say what they think, no matter how bad someone might think of it, foster discourse around it, and either expose the bad logic on those ideas, or change the mind of those people, that is it.

Much of my problem with cancel culture is this, it pushes to the fringes some people that then feel out of system and then those messages go underground and you get a lot more echo chambers without any contradictory on those people minds... This leads in turn to the most absurd cult like group mentality on some cases...

So, any time someone says "we need to regulate misinformation" or " we need to cancel xyz person" this is a new excuse for the powers at be to call us all stupid, and manipulate the narrative to divide us, we should distinguish for example on the difference in saying "its a shame" regarding Trump, and that shit is bad, but in reality not calling for any proper actions, while if one would post "when you do it next time, please don't miss" that would in my idea in some weird way be called a call to action, and be something worthy of some reprimand, because it assumes or hopes it would happen again. So we might think it is worthy of some reprimand.

So in essence, you cannot be against cancel culture and now say it's ok when advocating for someones murder, let alone a candidate to president... but i would understand another free speech absolutist that argues "it is ok to say it so long you don't take action yourself" this is actually a valid point, that fails for me on the moral level, it is immoral to do such a thing, maybe because i was raised in a strong family, it is against principles i was taught.

Anyway, not sure what you think about cancel culture, but i am happy to read you on the comments, and like always keep united folk!

Cancel culture is a bunch of weak and shallow minded people. These are the pathetic children you see screaming at others on the street for disagreeing with them instead of having a conversation they just stomp their feet like a petulant child. This isn’t all of them of course but that’s a pretty sizable portion.

I am a big advocate for free speech as well and could be considered an absolutist. I think the challenge here is that the financial interests are using this against us, as they do everything else.

THEY say the nasty things, like comparing trump to hitler, calling him every name in the book. If someone says the wrong thing about one of the high ups on the democrat side though, all of a sudden they are the scum of the earth.

This means they say as many nasty things as they want and we aren’t allowed to fight back with our own words and versions or they cry and try to get people cancelled. It’s a vicious cycle that’s for sure!

I think we may be getting to the bottom of the arc of the pendulum swing and could be on the way back up soon. The challenge with that though is being a pendulum, it gets bad on the other side as well, so who knows what’s going to happen in that regard.
