8-Hour Blackout

A blackout in Venezuela is always a scary thing. For years we have been gambling on an imminent collapse of our electric system.

In the provinces, blackouts are a regular occurrence, usually more than once a day. In the main cities, though, authorities do their best to keep appearances. When it happens in the capital, of course there is reason to panic.

I'm about to start a new semester of online English classes and the very thought of having blackouts complicating things is just terrifying.

Today, for more than eight hours, we were thinking about plans Bs and Cs in case this blackout becomes a recurrente issue. I hope not, but here you can never tell.

That’s not good man! Hopefully you can avoid blackouts as much as you can.

One of the things that might help you is a plug-in battery for emergencies like this. I have one that can run a laptop for 4 or 5 hours and it’s got 2 outlets on it so you can probably plug in a modem and a laptop until the power comes back on.

Yes, due to this crisis, I had to buy some gadgets to get sone extra battery life. Unfortunately, I had to leave the UPS back home when we moved in a rush and now will have to buy another one. I should be doing that next month.

Regrettable situation that is also experienced, and in a worse way, in my country.
I hope everything improves soon there.
