Turkish Bazaars in Istanbul and Izmir

in Market Friday2 years ago (edited)

Hello friends!

It's Friday and again we take a walk around some peculiar place, some place where we can see many interesting things, buy some or just entertain ourselves. So I share again another experience in #MarketFriday hosted by @dswingle

This time we are going far away, to a place always crowded with objects, food, aromas and lots of people. Because bazaars are like that, and in Turkey they are very characteristic, and some of them are very famous and well-known, becoming not only a regular place, but also an almost obligatory tourist spot.

Let's visit the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul, Turkey, the quintessential bazaar, because it is certainly large and there are always a lot of people, a lot of noise, many voices from vendors trying to attract customers and many products. I think they all attract attention.

The ones that smell the best, the ones that transport us to other exotic places, are the stalls selling spices, herbs, teas and other condiments, some common and others intense that we had never tried. Shall we buy any of those?

The ones that taste best, those sweet delicious Turkish delights, with nuts incorporated. Here we can't resist, we can't try them all but we can try some, we eat them as if they were a snack while we continue walking through more aisles, almost losing our orientation without being sure if we have already passed that same stall or not.

We look up, a lot of flags, decorations. Among the decorations there are decorative lamps. A colorful and beautiful amalgamation of delicate oriental-style lamps look like a piece of modern art when hanging together. Also from plates and other similar objects, they all hang, they all decorate. They all create a fabulous effect.

We change scenery, we go to another city in the country, in Izmir there is also a bazaar in the center of the city, smaller, in fact the ceilings are low, but it has an external part to feel clearer. Because we realize that there are fewer people inside, you can have a better time, you can look at more things...

And we also found many objects that we would buy, we would take many things with us in our suitcase. We see more hanging lamps and decorative ornaments, as well as jewelry, bags, clothes, and of course, food.

But the food is all on the outside, where again we see mountains of nuts, spices and herbs perfectly placed, with the signs with their names, although some again do not seem familiar to us. There are always discoveries.

And we also realize that it merges with a regular open-air market where the locals go to buy clothes, various things and especially food, fruits or vegetables, etc. Life goes on as usual, there are hardly any tourists there, it is appreciated, we look as if it were normal, observing the merchandise, good, beautiful things and at a good price.

We enjoyed the lively atmosphere of the market, but this time without the hectic pace of a well-known and visited bazaar, here everything is smaller, closer, more affordable, also cheaper and somewhat quieter, if we appreciate a little more space when walking, if we want to see all the stalls, everything there is, in yet another bazaar that is worth visiting.

Thanks for reading! Have a colorful and interesting day.

I really appreciate your support! !PIZZA

really love the gallery's pictures on your post, the stall of the turkis delight looks like the very old school stall in Hong Kong as well. thanks for sharing such goods pictures and introduction in details.

Thanks a lot, I appreciate your kind words, some photos were difficult because there were many people so some were a bit blurry... but still I could take some of those nice delights (I like them), I wonder how is that in Hong Kong, I'm curious 😊 happy Friday!

Last yearI made lot of posts introducing about HK, I will go outside take some new pics after my business trip in the U.K. after 3 June, will let you know whenever i update, thanks for your interest in my city

Ok good to know... I follow you and I hope in the future to know more, I'm curious about our world so why not to know more about other places like yours? Maybe someday I can go there... hope so! Thanks to you, you are very kind.🤗 Have a nice trip in June!

Lovely place to visit sis! 💙

Yep many things to see!!! 😉

Jajaj a lamp lover! 😍 Many things and many thoughts like: should I buy also that? and that? 😅
And of course nuts, specially fistik (Turkish pistachios)! The best!
