As usual I'm a day late for #MarketFriday, the awesome weekly project initiated by @dswigle. I'm an absolute loser on Fridays! 😂 But Saturday is catch-up day, so here I am.

This week we had a great night on the town. Hubby and I went out with our oldest daughter and her boyfriend for dinner and a play on Thursday night. We all love the theater!
Dinner was at a place called Zen Box just a few blocks from The Guthrie theater, one of our favorite playhouses and a long-standing Minneapolis tradition!
My daughter and her boyfriend live walking distance from the restaurant and the theater, the lucky ducks! So they met us at the restaurant.
The place is quite cute, with wonderful decor. It had a very homey and welcoming feel to it.
Zen Box is famous for their ramen soup. It sounded fabulous, but a little too filling and too much heat for me on a warm summer night.
I ordered the salmon bento box.
It was very tasty, and overall pretty light. I refrained from eating all the rice. Nothing makes me fall asleep faster in a play than a big filling meal and a glass of wine! I was good and had green tea.
My husband ordered one of the ramen bowls.
Have you ever eaten tiramisu? It's one of my favorite desserts — a scrumptious Italian delight made from cookies, cream and coffee. Well, this Asian restaurant had a green tea version!
It was quite incredible! And honestly it tasted very similar to the classic recipe.
After dinner, we walked the few short blocks to the theater. Minneapolis is a lovely and easy-to-navigate city. There were tons of people out and about enjoying the lovely evening. This is my crew, walking along toward the theater. Oh, and some lovely sidewalk flower boxes.
I have a few pictures from the theater. Of course you're not allowed to take any pictures of the actors or do any photography whatsoever during the show.
Here's the program!
It's always so tempting to take pictures during the show, because I love the look of a set, with the actors under the stage lights! And the set for Murder on the Orient Express was amazing. They did things with video behind the train windows and with movement of the set that very effectively gave the impression of a moving train, with snow coming down outside. Incredible!
But I was on best behavior. Well almost... I did get one picture of the empty set before the play started.
The show was fantastic. The man who played Poirot was absolutely hilarious. There was so much humor and fun in this show. I have a hunch the "campy" aspect of the story was amped up quite a bit for the stage version. Now I need to read the book and see the movie! I refrained from either before going to the play, as I wanted it to be my first impression.
I have found that expecting a play to closely emulate a favorite book or movie is rarely a good idea! But seeing a play and then reading the book or seeing the movie (in my humble opinion) is the way to go.
My last picture is the view of the theater from the outside, with their two-story banner all lit up. You can see the famous Gold Medal Flour sign as well — a famous Minneapolis landmark!
Thanks for visiting! I keep letting time slip away between posts, but I'm really trying to get back to it!

(no space) to get help on Hive. InfoSounds like a wonderful evening. The food looked amazing. I love Asian food. My favorite is Yokisoba. The flower boxes did look really nice and I am glad you enjoyed the play. I have only been to a play once when i was younger. I enjoyed, so not sure why we have not been to more. Assuming the Guthrie theatre is named after Woody?
Thanks for stopping by @coinjoe. The theater is delightful. I recommend checking it out again! The Guthrie theater was named after Sir Tyrone Guthrie, the founder. I had to look it up, as I had no idea! So thank you! I learned something!
Well thank you, I learned something too.😀
You always, always make such amazing posts for #MarketFriday! Thank you so much! Meeting up with family members is so exciting, isn't it? Those little kids are off and creating a life of their own. I find it interesting how much alike/different they do life than I did.
Le sigh.
The restaurant is so distinctive in its decor. What a great choice pretheater. Notoriously light fare offerings. I am always hungry later in the evening after Asian food, so that is a plus for me before the theater. Divided dishes allow me to see what I am actually eating! :) Although your husband's ramen looks good. I know you won't believe this, but, I have never eaten ramen. Not in a restaurant and not at home. I know... hard to believe, isn't it? Your trek to the theater from there was a visual delight, I love the city and I really love the flower boxes. My geraniums love them!
I don't like taking pictures in the theater either, especially after they make that announcement. I think you are safe with taking it before. :) I do appreciate people that understand the reasons behind it. You make me proud!! Not reading it before really is the way to go. By the time I saw the play, I had read the book and seen the movie... Definitely still a great show, but, I cannot help comparing. When I was growing up if I read the book, I wouldn't go to see the movie or watch it on TV, it was never as good. LOL Now, I am a little more forgiving. Kudos on the pictures in the post, especially the last one... and the Gold Medal Flour sign... Love it~!
I love Minneapolis! What is not to love about it??? The Sculpture Garden! Walker Art Center! Minnehaha! Laugh, haha, but, I loved it~ And theaters galore. I know you love it there and honestly, I think that anyone who went there would too. It is a big city, with that small-town feel. Well, I said that wrong, but, the outskirts of it make the area feel small town and very homey and friendly. You have made me feel all nostalgic to go back and visit again. If it weren't for the snowy winters, I would sing its praises even higher. Although, I have lived in snowy places and I never minded. It was just part of the charm.
#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers' markets, and eventually branched out and evolved over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, and even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact that these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world.
Thank you for being a part of #MarketFriday

Here I am holding my hard boiled egg and hungering after that bento box. So good! And then Murder in the Orient Express pairs perfect with sushi!
Ha ha, yes I agree. Perfect pairing! Thanks so much for stopping by, @litguru!
I do love a good Bento box I must say.. All this food looks spot on though, you can't go wrong with a good Japanese restaurant in my opinion.
Absolutely. I love a good bento box too. Thanks for stopping by, @ablaze! Good to see you.
Thanks, all good this side, life is busy but I wouldn't change a thing. I hope you and yours are well.
