Besides walking a lot and cycling non-stop, one of the other things I did most on my first trip alone was to visit ice cream shops. In the province of San Juan it is so hot that every day was like eating some ice cream. In the two months that I was touring this province, I must have visited almost 10 ice cream shops of all kinds and tasted ice cream of all qualities. In order to have one more on my list and eat something delicious for dessert, one day the owner of the hostel decided to take my co-workers and me to a very famous ice cream shop for its aesthetics and for its incredible ice cream ❤️.
Además de caminar bastante y andar en bicicleta sin parar, otra de las cosas que más hice en mi primer viaje sola fue visitar heladerías. Y es que en la provincia de San Juan hace tanto calor que todos los días estaban como para comer un poco de helado. En los dos meses que estuve recorriendo esta provincia, habré visitado casi 10 heladerías de todo tipo y probé helados de todas las calidades. Con el objetivo de tener una más en mi lista y comer algo rico como postre, un día el dueño del hostel decidió llevarnos a mis compañeros de trabajo y a mí a una heladería muy famosa por su estética y por su helado increíble ❤️.
That day we had had one of our traditional community lunches to welcome and bid farewell to new and old volunteers at the hostel, respectively. These group meals had already become a tradition, mostly because in volunteer work new travelers come and go all the time. I was one of those who stayed the longest, so I had to welcome and say goodbye to several travel friends, each one remembered by the meal we had on their arrival or departure 💕.
Ese día habíamos tenido una de nuestros tradicionales almuerzos comunitarios para recibir y despedir a los nuevos y antiguos voluntarios en el hostel, respectivamente. Estas comidas en grupo ya se habían vuelto una tradición, más que nada porque en el trabajo voluntario todo el tiempo vienen y se van nuevos viajeros. Yo fui una de las que más tiempo estuve, así que me tocó recibir y despedir a varios amigos de viaje, cada uno recordado por la comida que hicimos en su llegada o despedida 💕.
In one of the last meetings we had eaten some delicious empanadas, and after so much salty food, we wanted to buy something sweet. The owner of the hostel in San Juan was very kind to us, so he took us in his car to one of the ice cream shops he liked the most. He liked this place both for its products and for the variety of sweet and delicious things it has to offer. Actually, the cost of all that was quite high, but he invited us so none of us paid anything 😃.
En una de las últimas reuniones que hicimos habíamos comido unas empanadas deliciosas, y después de tanta comida salada, queríamos comprar algo dulce. El dueño del hostel de San Juan era muy amable con nosotros, así que nos llevó en su auto hasta una de las heladerías que más le gustaba a él. Este lugar le gustaba tanto por sus productos como por la varidad de cosas dulces y deliciosas que tiene para ofrecer. En verdad, el costo de todo eso era bastante alto, pero el nos invitó así que ninguno de nosotros pagó nada 😃.
Because of our work in the hostel, we volunteers do not receive any money since the exchange is only for accommodation and breakfast, but that the people in charge of the place have this kind of gesture from time to time makes the stay worthwhile. All the times we had communal meals, they were provided by the owners, and that made us feel valued. Taking us to that ice cream parlor was also a nice gesture because everything looked tempting and also with the hot weather, the conditions to eat something sweet and cold were ideal 😃.
Por nuestro trabajo en el hostel, nosotros los voluntarios no recibimos dinero ya que el intercambio es solo por el alojamiento y el desayuno, pero que los responsables del lugar tengan este tipo de gestos cada tanto hacen que la estadía valga la pena. Todas las veces que hicimos las comidas comunitarias corrieron a cargo de los dueños, y eso nos hacía sentir valorados. Llevarnos a esa heladería también fue un lindo gesto porque todo se veía tentador y además con el calor que hacía, las condiciones para comer algo dulce y frío eran ideales 😃.
This ice cream parlor called Biscuí had coffee and ice cream service and products. All their menu was quite aesthetic, perfect for instagrammable photos. The kilo of ice cream cost about $10, quite a bit more expensive than in other places, but the ice cream makers let us try every taste we asked for, so we got quite a head start on trying everything. It was interesting to see how they had weird flavors I had never seen before, like passion fruit ice cream, mandarian, Roquefort cheese and lemon basil. So far, the weirdest ice cream flavor I've tried was lavender, and while those were weird, none were as strange as the one that tasted like floor deodorant 😂.
Esta heladería llamada Biscuí tenía servicio y productos de cafetería y heladería. Todos su menú era bastante estético, perfecto para las fotos instagrameables. El kilo de helado costaba unos $10, bastante más costoso que en otros lugares, pero los heladeros nos dejaron probar cada gusto que pedimos, asi que ahí ya sacamos bastante ventaja probando todo. Fue interesante ver como tenían sabores raros que nunca antes había visto, como helado de maracuyá, mandarian, de queso roquefort y de limón con albahaca. Hasta ahora, el sabor de helado más raro que probé fue uno de lavanda, y aunque estos eran raros, ninguno fue tan extraño como ese que parecía sabor a desodorante de piso 😂.
We bought a one kilo pot of ice cream and took it back to the hostel so I could share it with all my other companions. I remember that day was very emotional and we had a very long after-dinner conversation. The one who had to leave was my work partner with whom I lived for a whole month, and I could say that she was the backpacker with whom I shared the most experiences and from whom I learned the most. She has been traveling for more than three years and it is already her way of life. After San Juan she was going to Mendoza to work in a mountain refuge until the end of the summer. Currently, she is there and I see the beautiful photos she shares on her social networks. The mountains are so beautiful that it is completely understandable that she likes to travel non-stop 💕.
Compramos un pote de un kilo de helado y lo llevamos de vuelta al hostel para poder compartirlo con todos mis otros compañeros. Me acuerdo que ese día fue muy emotivo y tuvimos una sobremesa muy larga. La que se tenía que ir era mi compañera con la cual conviví un mes entero, y podría decir que fue la mochilera con la que más experiencias compartí y de la que más aprendí. Ella esta viajando hace más de tres años y ya es su estilo de vida. Después de San Juan se iba a Mendoza a trabajar en un refugio de montaña hasta el fin del verano. Actualmente, ella está ahí y veo las fotos hermosas que comparte en sus redes sociales. Las montañas son tan hermosas que es completamente entendible el gusto por viajar sin parar 💕.
Regarding the flavors of ice cream we ordered, well, thanks to my classic influence we ordered intense chocolate, and subject to a vote, we bought the lemon basil, tiramisu and tramontana ice cream. I like all of these flavors, so I agreed with this choice. But what I value most of that moment was to have been with my companions of my first volunteering, to whom I took a lot of affection for being my first experience in this nomadic life. And of course this good dessert made everything better ❤️.
Respecto a los sabores de helado que pedimos, bueno, gracias a mi influencia clásica pedimos chocolate intenso, y sometido a votación, compramos el helado de limón con albahaca, de tiramisú y de tramontana. Todos estos sabores me gustan, así que estuve de acuerdo con esta elección. Pero lo que más valoro de ese momento fue haber estado con mis compañeros de mi primer voluntariado, a los cuales les tomé mucho cariño por ser mi primera experiencia en esta vida nómada. Y por supuesto que este buen postre mejoró todo ❤️.

What an exciting experience you had in San Juan, what a beautiful tradition they had in the hostel, of receiving and saying goodbye to people with a special meal, it is a good way to remember someone by just repeating the dish.

Macarons y helados 😍 / Me gustan todos los sabores también aunque tengo una pequeña lista de preferencias, que para nada evita que yo me la salte para probar nuevas combinaciones de sabores. Ese limón con albahaca debe ser exquisito... y el maracuyá. No he probado estos dos.

¡Hola Yegely! Tramontana es helado de crema americana con cereales de chocolate bañados en chocolate y con dulce de leche. Uno de los mejoresss. Y si, yo tampoco quiero comprar sabores que resulten horribles, por eso siempre compro los mismos 😂
Que delicia de postres 😍 es como para probarlos todos, aunque sabor a lavanda no me sería apetecible tampoco 😂🤣, soy más clásica y me voy por el chocolate y tiramisú que son mis favoritos, así que excelente opción, es muy agradable sentirse valorado en los trabajos que desempeñamos ☺️ muy bueno eso gesto de sus jefes en llevarlos a conocer este hermoso lugar 🥰 Saludos
Es que es muy difícil reemplazar el chocolate, habrán algunos muy buenos pero no tanto como para no elegirlo 😂. Y la verdad que sí, los dueños fueron muy amables ese día.

Esas heladerías tienen los sabores que convierten a los comensales en adictos. En este verano, por ejemplo, me los comería todos. Sobre todo el de maracuyá, pues me recuerda a mi país, allá decimos parchita. Me encantó el gesto del dueño del hostal, pero más, tu bello mensaje. ¡Hola linda viajera! Es una fruta que nosotros usamos frecuentemente para preparar nuestros batidos o jugos, además de helados. Generalmente, los preparamos en vasitos de plástico y los llevamos a la heladera. Son deliciosos y muy refrescantes. Sobre todo para esta época de calor. Un abrazo mi ciela.
