@bluemoon this was a lovely post. I loved that you enjoy venturing off the well-trodden tourist paths to immerse yourself in the local community. My husband and I do this too. We enjoy being able to get a feel of community rather than just a mixed milieu of foreign tourists like ourselves. After all, if I want a cultural melting pot, I just need to step outside my front door😂. Where I live, my neighbours come from all corners of the globe: England, Malaysia, South Africa, Israel, Germany, Russia, Poland, and for the most part we all get on really well. We are a friendly bunch who look out for each other. I do, however, love visiting some of the cultural hubs in the world where a single culture and tradition is on display and one is given the opportunity through community, food, and local custom to gain some deeper insights into what it means to come from there and how looks and feels to be in their shoes. The pics of the outdoor restaurant really reminded me of a trip we took to Venice, where restaurants popped up out of nowhere by dusk, and what was once a residential street turned into a hive of nocturnal activity, alive with coloured lights, tables decked in checkered patterns, music wafting through the alleyways. And just the best pizza that I have ever tasted in my life❣️I imagine that these evenings will live long in your memory and I hope you get to revisit your home away from home and the special friends that you made there, very soon. !ALIVE !PIZZA !LUV
