Hello guys, Welcome to my new article, in which I will be talking about the benefits of apple cider vinegar and how it can affect blood pressure. The topic at hand is interesting, though, and I am confident that it will be of great interest to you.
Since persons with high blood pressure have a higher risk of developing heart disease, heart attacks, and strokes, it's critical to take all reasonable steps to lower their blood pressure to a healthy level. Consider adding apple cider vinegar to your routine if you've changed your diet, increased your activity, decreased your stress level, and taken an antihypertensive prescription like propranolol or lisinopril but are still having trouble keeping your blood pressure in check.
In recent years, a tiny but growing body of data has suggested that this seemingly unrelated substance may do wonders for physical health, reducing acid reflux, lowering blood sugar, and assisting in weight reduction. As a result, it has been hailed as a superfood. But is it true that apple cider vinegar can decrease blood pressure and do everything else that people claim it does? What you should know is as follows.
Do high blood pressure and apple cider vinegar go well together?
ACV is a form of vinegar created from the fermented sugar found in apples. Its somewhat sweet, tangy flavor, comparable nutritional profile to apple juice, and other culinary uses make it a popular ingredient in salad dressings, marinades, and other dishes. ACV comes in two varieties: one with the "mother" and one without. The bacteria cultivated throughout the production process, known as the "mother," is what transforms naturally occurring alcohol (produced during the fermentation process) into acetic acid.
ACV is filtered when marketed without the "mother" to make it seem clearer and more palatable, although the "mother" bacteria offers ACV more advantageous health benefits. Make sure you select a brand of liquid ACV that has this beneficial bacteria if you're purchasing it in the hopes of decreasing your blood pressure: Your digestive, immunological, and cardiovascular systems can benefit from the probiotics, nutrients, and acetic acid in the mother," in addition to acetic acid's health advantages.
The evidence is conflicting as to whether or not ACV may truly cause a substantial drop in blood pressure. According to dietician Kimberley Wiemann, MS, RDN, of Long Island, research is limited but usually encouraging. She cites an analysis of randomized controlled studies from 2022 that claims that an ounce of apple cider vinegar can lower blood pressure by more than three points in both the diastolic and systolic measurements. The advantage of ACV serves as a little aid when you consider that the majority of persons with high blood pressure consistently exceed the typical healthy range by 10–30 points.
The research is still so limited, and many of the trials have been conducted on rats rather than people, so many specialists are wary of bestowing ACV with too many superpowers.
The FDA does not regulate ACV, even though it is frequently offered as a dietary supplement and comes in a variety of forms, including liquid, pill, and capsule. Manufacturers are free to use as much or as little of the advantageous components as they choose.
To ensure that you are not consuming too much vinegar, Jeanette Kimszal, a registered dietitian at Thyroid Nutrition Educators, advises looking at the dosages.
Apple cider vinegar advantages
Although ACV isn't a panacea for significant health issues like diabetes, heart disease, or hypertension, it probably does include certain qualities that might make it a useful supplement to a healthy diet and way of life—including these possible advantages.
Keep a normal blood pressure.
Kimszal claims that a modest quantity of good bacteria, antioxidants, enzymes, and antioxidants found in ACV can boost nitric acid production, lower blood pressure, and reduce oxidative stress.
According to Kimszal, acetic acid in ACV has been proven to reduce the activity of renin, a hormone that affects blood pressure, in certain animal experiments, but it is unknown if it has similar benefits in people.
In a nutshell, downing a shot glass of ACV won't significantly or quickly lower your blood pressure. Although this has mostly only been observed in rat trials, there is some evidence that taking ACV regularly for a few days or weeks will drop blood pressure.
Reduced blood sugar
An increase in blood sugar levels can stress your blood vessels, making your heart work harder and raising your risk of hypertension. There is growing evidence that ACV can help reduce blood sugar, which is good for heart health. According to Wiemann, "apple cider vinegar is thought to lower blood glucose," saying that a 2022 study discovered that ACV with meals reduced the amount of glucose in the blood by twenty percent.
How to reduce blood pressure with apple cider vinegar
It's probably safe to attempt taking an ACV supplement to reduce your blood pressure if you're willing to do so. (with some caveats). But it's crucial to realize that there aren't any official dose guidelines for when or how much to take.
If your objective is to reduce blood pressure, it doesn't matter what time of day you ingest ACV. Studies have looked at eating anywhere between one and five teaspoons daily, with variable outcomes.
Although reducing blood sugar can eventually help with lowering blood pressure, there is no cause-and-effect relationship; instead, this is about lowering blood sugar, not blood pressure.
ACV is quite acidic and can irritate your mouth, teeth, throat, and stomach, so use caution when using it. Some of the top methods, according to Kimszal, for taking ACV every day include:
Including it in homemade salad dressings and marinades
Including a teaspoon in protein shakes, smoothies, and teas
In general, even if you use blood pressure medications, you should be able to consume ACV every day; in fact, it could be a good idea. In 2016 research, it was shown that the combination of ACV with the blood pressure drug Procardia XL reduced blood pressure in rats more effectively than ACV by itself.
Although it can have some adverse effects, drinking raw ACV is generally safe. According to Kimszal, it can erode dental enamel, irritate the oesophagus, and perhaps upset the stomach.
More severely, if you also take drugs like digoxin or diuretics, which are meant to reduce potassium levels, this impact of ACV might be amplified. An essential electrolyte in the blood that must be within the normal range is potassium. This is due to potassium's role in assisting with electrical conduction in cardiac cells, which promotes a proper heartbeat. To ensure that your potassium levels don't go too low if you use potassium-lowering medications, consult your doctor before eating ACV. If you use insulin or have diabetes, you should likewise exercise caution when ingesting ACV.
In conclusion, because ACV contains certain healthy nutrients and probiotic bacteria, it is likely, ingesting a few tablespoons of it daily can gradually reduce your blood pressure. ACV use has not, however, been well researched in people, particularly concerning blood pressure, so it's crucial to manage your hypertension with other dietary and lifestyle modifications as well as medicine.
Consult a healthcare professional if you think you might have high blood pressure. Unless you're experiencing a hypertensive crisis, there are usually no "signs" of hypertension.

If it's the bacteria that are doing the job, I wonder if other fermented products like cheese, yogurt, kombucha, etc., also lower blood pressure, or if the bacteria is specific to the apple cider vinegar.
Thanks for your interest. Well, all I can say here is that ACV actually has a unique bacteria in them that carries out this function and I can't vividly say that those products you mentioned don't have this same bacteria since I don't have much evidence. But that will be my next case of research .
