Si tienes perritos en casa, te interesa estar al tanto de esta terrible enfermedad, suele considerarse mortal o en muchas ocasiones con el tratamiento a tiempo, en ocasiones se logra disminuir los síntomas, pero el virus queda latente en el organismo.
Podemos decir… que es mejor prevenir que lamentar, y eso solo se hace con la Vacunación, a tiempo pero primero: “consulta al veterinario siempre”.
Yo no vendré a hablar de tratamiento ni dosis, solo hago referencia a lo que he aprendido en este tema, por años trabajado con veterinarios y siendo proteccionista, puedo afirmar que no queremos que nuestros amigos animales sufran, y es depende en 100% de nosotros, la cultura latina aún ve a los animales como simples animales, tienen al perro, solo para que cuide la casa y defienda territorio, al gato para cazar ratones.
Y por esto nos hemos tardado como sociedad en reconocer que son seres vivos y con sentimientos, que solo dan amor, compañía, alegría y que simplemente lo que le falta es hablar.
La intención de este post es que aprendamos la importancia de las enfermedades en nuestros animales.
La enfermedad se transmite por un artrópodo, como la Garrapata y cuyo nombre científico es Rhipicephaulus sanguineus pero te sorprenderá saber que hay mucho tipos de garrapatas, alrededor de 650 especies…dividas en 12 géneros. Interesante estudio de clasificación
Ellas viven en la naturaleza esperando a un hospedador en este caso, “un perro” en cual se llamará huésped primario, pero bueno este es otro tema y ya te contaré sobre el ciclo de vida de este chupasangre.
Hoy quiero explicarles las características de esta enfermedad y puedan salir corriendo a atender a ese miembro importante de la familia. Pero ojo nunca saber este determina la gravedad y complicaciones, eso debe ser determinado por un Médico Veterinario certificado.
Si en tu perrito, observa estos síntomas: ACUDE AL VETERINARIO.
-Inapetencia.
-Fiebre, de 39°a 40°
-Manchas rojas en la piel (puntos hemorrágicos)
-Secreciones respiratorias(moco o sangre) secreciones oculares (lagañas verdes)
-Cojera y dolor en articulaciones.
-Incontinencia.
-Mucosas (encías) pálidas.
-Letargo.
El Veterinario, mediante evaluación física y con estudios hematológicos (sangre) donde se podrá determinar la disminución de las plaquetas, llamada trombocitopenia. Aún, No te alarmes más de la cuenta, hay tratamiento que debes seguir al pie de la letra. Y siempre es el médico Veterinario, quien indique la dosis y los días en que ser aplicado.
Es recomendable durante el tratamiento, que tu perro se alimente mejor y que no dejes de hidratarlo, para que esas defensas suban y poder combatir la enfermedad.
Aquí va mi recomendación de los alimentos, que debes darles durante el tratamiento:
-Las patas de pollo, son ricas en colágeno y vitaminas para estos casos, son tan buenas que nosotros también podemos consumirlas, aportan energía y aumentan los glóbulos rojos en sangre. Lava bien, quita las uñas, cocina por 2 horas hasta que se ablanden licuas, luego cuelas y deja enfriar, tendrás una rica gelatina, en la nevera se mantienen por mucho tiempo.
-Remochala, es esencial por sus vitaminas y aportes de energía, puedes cocinarla como papilla.
-Zanahoria esta si puedes darla cruda o cocida.
-Mucha agua, puede ser agua de coco, así como suero o algún líquido pediátrico con electrolitos, pero prefiero lo natural.
No es que le dejes la comida al frente y no se la coma, trata de con una inyectadora estimularlo a comer, como niño chiquito. Al sentirse mal se deshidratan muy rápido y no tienen fuerzas.
Todas estas cosas, son para que sepas que hacer, pero insisto consulta siempre a un especialista Veterinario, no esperes al último momento, el determinará que tratamiento con medicinas debes aplicar.
Como prevenimos, esta enfermedad combatiendo a las garrapatas, fumigando espacios del hogar, en donde la garrapata cumple su ciclo de vida, sin que te des cuenta.
Existe hoy en día formulas geniales como en bravecto, Nexgard, que ayudan a combatir estos bichos… luego les comento sobre ellos, pero puedes desde ya consultar al Veterinario.
