Cleo is beautiful. I love her colors and she looks like she doesn't give two F's about anything. I do hope you have many more years with her. No worries. We had to put our dogs on diets not long ago and it has helped their health a lot.
As far as my pet, well, we actually have 3 dogs, 3 cats, and some fish in the family. The cats are on their own program and so are the fish. Each of us has their own dog that they are attached to, or the dog is attached to them. Mine is Bailey. She is my big sweetie. I posted about her a few weeks ago when she went through a bad spot. I almost lost her. Yes, if and when I lose her, I will lose my shit completely. She is like a child to me. We spend a lot of time together. I even have conversations with her.
She's a funny little thing, even when she's asleep; just makes me smile all the time and my heart opens up a little because of her.
Putting pets on diets can be problematic and more so with cats. They're tough little things but don't respond well to change be it location, routine or diet. In all honesty she needs to go on a diet and I've made a few changes, slowly.
You've got a zoo! Ok, not quite.
I grew up in a small rural town on some property and we always had dogs and other producing animals. The dogs were border collies mostly and we cats too. It was nice to grow up with animals around, it taught many things and I am grateful for it. I wonder if there's adverse effects to children who do not grow up with pets? Maybe I guess.
Later on I had a Rottweiler called Benson. He was a stone-cold legit killer with other people, but with us he was a placid and friendly dog. He was incredibly protective and when that big dude barked at you with intent you knew not to move. I used to put him out the front on Saturday mornings (front was fenced) to dissuade the doorknockers who seemed intent upon converting me to whatever religion each represented. I'd watch them walk down the street on my side then cross over to the other side when they got to my house, only to return to my side to knock my my neighbours door. They learned fast. 😜
apologies for the late reply. Had a little health setback the other night and been down...but back in the fight now.
Anyway...Cats especially seem to have a way about them. They can be very set in their ways when they want to be. I know our oldest one, Sassy, is. I am sure if we tried changing up her food she would rebel and probably start pissing all over everything in the house out of pure spite. She is an old curmudgeon. Cleo on the other hand sounds like a real sweetheart and probably takes too it just fine.
Benson sounds like a wonderful dog and friend. Luckily you didn't have to pick any Sunday flyers or missionary name tags from his teeth😀...I hope.
Yep, we have lost a few. Right after we adopted Bailey as a pup, we lost my buddy Bushido. He was the stereo typical English Bulldog. It took about a year before I warmed up to another animal, which happened to be our new pup Bailey. She stole my heart through her consistent desire to sit on my lap even though she is a big dog.
None needed, you had to do something and it was more important, I get it.
You're probably right about the reaction Sassy might have to a dramatic change in diet, that's what cats do; mess with our heads because they can. With Cleo, I just want her to be happy, feel safe and loved...sure, she could afford to eat a few less biscuits, but she's ok as is, the vet says so.
Benson was good...no name badges were picked frow his gaping maw, a few arms and legs, but no name badges. Lol.
This is what my parents should have called me. (I assume you know its meaning .)
I do. We actually adopted him in Okinawa Japan.
That's cool...Now I wish I called Cleo Bushido...But it probably wouldn't have suited...She's more of a Cleopatra...always seeking a life of leisure. Lol.
Well, in all honesty, Bushido didn't end up fitting him either. He was more of a lover, not a warrior.
Haha, Don Juan DeMarco would have been a better name then, but I bet he had some Bushido moments too.
