Just a few days ago, I was told by my mom that one of the kittens looked fatigued and he was on the verge of dying. This was the last picture we had of him. We aren’t really sure what caused it since they all died suddenly while the adult cats are fine. They were all reaching almost 2 months and prior to excessive heat, they were all fine.
Before the incident and especially the last 2 weeks, all the kittens like to sleep in the bathroom. But it’s given since in my mom’s place they’re currently having excessive heat. It’s quite abnormal in October for the temperature to rise up to 41C and this is why all of them like tried to find the most cooler part in the house. Usually, if my mom spotted them, she would dry them quickly and make sure that they’re not damp. When it comes to food and nutrition, they are definitely not showing any deficient. They eat really well and the mother nursed the kitten well too.
The kittens are fairly active and was quite mischievous too. I planned on going back home to see them but now that they all died, I don’t plan to go back anytime soon. I feel sad because I was really ecstatic about the kittens since I waited quite a while for them. Now it’s going to be a while before I could see more kittens and hopefully, they aren’t born during excessive heat.
We are pretty sad that they passed away like that and especially for me, I haven't been able to hold them. I am sure that the excessive heat was a factor too while at the same time. I also told my mom to give them water with sugar but nothing was working.
Since excessive heat hits my mom's region, she also stopped putting the kittens and cats outside. She made sure everyone is in shade and isn't hot but my mom reported even her pillow and bed felt hot despite it wasn't outside. I just can't imagine how hot it is over there because even where I am at,it's recorded to be the hottest it's ever been and my housemate cat is also likes sleeping on the bathroom and cold floor to cool down.

my cat Dara died 5 days ago. She went out from the backyard to the street, in the evening and she was hit by a car. She doesn't manage on the street because she is mostly in the house or the yard, and that's it... sadness

The heat has been insane and the cats seemed to be affected by it. They spend a lot of time in the bathroom just to sleep. My mom is the one who feels really sad, she's been with them since they were babies.

It is so painful. My dog just gave few months ago. It was a rainy season and I was scared that the temperature should not affect them. I am sorry about your loss. Temperature really matters to young pets.

I am very sorry for your loss, I accompany you from a distance in your sadness. It is a pity. This phenomenon of high temperatures is almost worldwide. The damage to the flora, fauna and even human life are many. It is essential to take the best measures to prevent serious situations like the one you mention dear @macchiata. I have chosen to do my exercises very early in the morning and not to go out, unless it is strictly necessary, during rush hour. It's a rather uncomfortable new situation for us to deal with.

Sorry to hear about your kittens. I wonder why the older cats have not been so affected. They're probably stronger and may have better coping mechanisms. Hopefully things will cool down in your part of the world.
I once took Shiro for a walk which apparently was too hot for him. He got symptom of Heatstroke but thankfully survived. But that heat was definitely incomparable to the ones that's currently happening. It's quite extreme when during the day it can feel up to 42C and at night, it drops to 23 or sometimes 22.
42C is crazy, even for humans. That kind of temperature would cause a lot of trouble up here because we're not used to anything above 30 (and I'm being generous). We're supposed to have a warm winter in the west coast of Canada because of El Nino, and given that our weather depends on what's going on your neck of the woods, then the heat there is perhaps a preview of what's to come here. I hope your new kittens won't be so affected.
I am not used to above 30 either, mainly because I move around when it gets to 30 🤣 and go to places where it's 28-29 but yeah, lately, it's inevitable and I swear, I hate hot weather, I just can't function. No wonder it's affecting the cats too, they probably don't like hot weather either.
Poor guy, he maybe is in a better place, I believe that animals also go to heaven. I know how you feel because I also lost my dog who was with me for 10 years and I couldn't be with him because I was out of my country at the time, I hope you feel better soon.

Hi, I'm so sorry for your lost. You didn't do anything wrong. That happened to me too last year when my Cat gave birth 3 little kittens. They all stopped eating and died in just 1 day. I made a research because i was really sad, confused and worried for my adult cat too because i thought it was like a virus or something but what i found was something named Fading Kitten Syndrome and it's really common.
I'm really sorry and i hope that your adult cats are ok, please give them a lot of love because the death of the kittens can affect their moods.
I heard about it too. It's difficult for kitten to thrive and those who make it are quite strong. It's unfortunate how the weather isn't helping either. I noticed my other cats are now quite depressed and afraid that they're also affected by it.

Terrible! Maybe cold baths would have helped? I used to cover my kids will chilled water when they ran high fevers to chill them down. This summer our elderly dog collapsed and we didn't know why. Then we kept her out of the heat and I'd wipe her down with wet towels. Wasn't nearly so hot here as it was there.
