Last September 25th, the cat distribution system of the universe decided to choose me to take care of 4 tiny little angels. They are really tiny, each of them could fit in the palm of my hand. I saw a little tabby cat on the street one morning as I was buying our pandesal at the nearby bakery. He was so tiny I immediately grabbed him and put him on the side of the road becausw there were motorcycles passing by. They might not notice him and run him over. As I was at the bakery, I couldn't take my eyes of him. This little one decided to go back into the road, maybe looking for food. I was just looking at him, ready to stop any vehicle that might pass by should the need arise. Once I got the pandesal I bought, I went bqck to him and talked to him in my kitty voice.
I was telling him to stay off the road. Maybe he didn't understand me so I picked him up again and put him on the side. He kept on following me so I thought "Meh, what's one more kitten, I'm taking this one home." If he figured out my intentions, I can't really say but he suddenly ran off towards a box and meowed to me. Of course, I had to look at the box. And there they were 3 more tiny little cute ones. It was a trap, I'm telling you. He baited me with his cuteness, and I was caught in it - hook, line, and sinker.
I looked around to see if there's anyone there that can tell me who put the box there. Now, I don't know what's gonna happen if I found out. I mean obviously they were thrown there because whoever did it didn't want them. Now, I have just gotten over Awit's passing - she's another one of my rescues - but I really couldn't just look away and do nothing. It's been raining during that time and I'm sure these little ones will have a very hard time surviving on their own. They're still too young. So I put the little tabby cat inside with the others and picked the box up. I took them home. "Bahala na si batman." And so there begins another journey of my foster furmom-hood.
I am so excited to introduce my foster kittens: Kulit, Ingay, Sungit, and Ferdinand Magellan.
Let's start with Kulit. She was the first one to get adopted. I don't have much photo of her with her siblings because the moment they were out of quarantine, I got a message from her furmom. We call her Kulit because she is so playful and naughty and oh so mischievous. Much like our Hiraya, she likes going under the tiny crevices in our front porch (which served as their quarantine area). I notice her wake up her brothers and sister by her surprise attacks. She even pounces at me while I'm moving about in the porch. Kulit as she is, she is the sweetest among them because she loves cuddles and meows so sweetly - especially when she's hungry. Kulit, who is now named Nami by her new furmom is happily living with another kitten her age. Her new furmom constantly gives me updates to how she's doing.
Then there's Ingay. I never miss their feeding time because Ingay serves as my alarm clock. He meows oh so loudly when he's hungry. And he doesn't content himself with short meows, he meooooooooooooowwwwwws as if I haven't fed him for days when in reality, I just fed him 2 hours ago. I actually thought he had fading kitten syndrome because on the first few days after their quarantine, he was just quiet and was really just sleeping all the time. It turns out he might just was missing their other sister. Some 2 or 3 days after Kulit got adopted, Ingay was back to his normal loud self.
Remember, remember, the 5th of November, this is the day that Kulit was adopted by his new furmother. I brought him to his new furever home amd I can say he's going to live a happy life with his new fur parents.
Next we have Sungit. She was the one who always hissed at me. She really is a feisty one. She never allows almost anyone to touch her just like that. I had to win her heart so that I could pet her. It also took some time before I could cuddle with her. Now, she's not that feisty with me anymore. She's more playful now that she's at ease with me. She loves playing with the broomstick and would not let me clean the house in peace. When she's being too playful, my next resort would be to bring out the vaccuum cleaner which she fears and despises a lot. She hasn't been adopted yet but I've had some inquiries about her. I am hoping a loving fur parent finds her soon.
Last but not the least, the tabby cat that gave me the opportunity to foster them - Ferdinand Magellan. My daughter named him that because she observed how much he loves exploring. I can attest to that because out of all of them, he was the one who went out of the box and "looked around". Maybe he was just looking for food but he found a foster mom instead.
True to his name, he was the one who first discovered the back porch, the bedroom, the bathroom, and the backside of the kitchen. He's just so curious about everything and wants to know what's what. He was the one who first climed our christmas tree (now this one's trouble because he also taught Sungit to climb up too.)
Out of all the fosters I have, Ferdinand Magellan is the one I got attached to the most. I am honestly thinking of adopting him myself. My daughter has already given him a proper name and all. Our original agreement as a family though is to have just one cat but we ended up having 2 cats. I think adding one more wpuld be stretching it too much.

Aww this is so heartwarming! Thank you Ma'am for taking them home with you and eventually looking for their forever homes. Indeed, the cat universe has chosen you to be their guardian. Maybe the universe knew that you would eventually help them and that it chose you.
As a vet student, I promote neutering of dogs and cats especially to those pet owners who doesn't want to have more pets at home. In this way, not only they are preventing offsprings of their fur child, but also it is beneficial for their pets.

I had my 2 resident kittens neutered a few months back. It's so much easier for them. Para kasi silang nahihirapan na nasasaktan kapag nasa heat cycle sila. Ngayon, happy naman sila mag groom ng mga fosters namin.
Iilan lang ang kilala kong vet students. Pangalawa ka. Haha. Sana dumami pa kayo para mas maraming mag aalaga sa mga animals lalo na aa mga strays.
Sana makatapos muna ako Ma'am sa course ko hahahaha
Never knew you also have a kind heart for furbabies, Mamshie~ I hope you can find another furparents for them. I really pity those pets thrown anywhere. If I could only bring them back in my apartment, I'll have a bunch of those cute little ones for sure, but pets aren't allowed here, so I'm really for those stray pets I've passed on the road and the thrown kittens.
Matindi tindi ang ginagawa kong screening sa mga potential adopters. Dami ko muna tanong bago ko ibigay. Tapos hinihingan ko ng updates. So far, ok naman yung dalawang napili ko.
Naku sinabihan na ako ni Tatay na hindi ko naman daw pwedeng iuwi bawat strays na makikita ko sa daan. Pero di talaga ako matahimik kapag naririnig kong may nagngingiyaw na kittens sa kung saan.

Thanks. I've had so much inquiries about them but so far, only 2 furmoms made me feek comfortable to hand these kitties over. I do hope they get adopted before christmas. It's like a christmas gift to them - having their firever loving families.
