Les presento el caso de Luna, ella es una gata anciana, de más o menos unos 10 años o quizás más, ha parido demasiado durante todos estos estos años, sus partos han sido numerosos, desde 4 cachorros hasta 6 cachorros en cada parto, todos nacían vivos.

Desde el parto anterior, que fue el año pasado, luna ha tenido algunas dificultades, el año pasado tuvo solo tres cachorritos de los cuales uno murió a las dos semanas de haber nacido, una vez que los cachorros nacen deben comenzar a tomar leche de la madre y muy importante deben mantenerse en calor porque la más mínima brisa les puede dar hipotermia, esto es muy malo para los cachorros.

En el parto más reciente que fue hace 3 días, luna solo tuvo 2 cachorros y el primero nació muerto porque no terminó de desarrollarse, esto es muy común, generalmente en cada parto puede haber un cachorro que nazca muerto por no haberse desarrollado completamente, no pasa en todos los partos pero en el caso que suceda es normal.

Luna como les dije al principio es una gata con una edad muy avanzada y ya no es bueno para ella que siga teniendo partos porque podría tener dificultades bien sea durante el embarazo o durante el parto, si tu mascota está embarazada bien sea una perrita o en este caso una gatita, lo más recomendable es hacerle una ecografía porque mediante el eco se puede observar cuantos cachorritos son, de qué manera vienen los cachorritos y si están bien formados o no, de esta manera al momento del parto ya sabemos cuantos cachorros estamos esperando para que si en algún momento ella deja de parir sepamos si los parió a todos o si aún le falta alguno.

Los riesgos de que las hembras con una edad avanzada sigan teniendo partos es que les puede desarrollar una infección uterina o también cáncer, esto afecta tanto las hembras con más de 3 partos cómo a las hembras que no han tenido ni siquiera uno, lo más recomendable es que tengan al menos un solo parto o tal vez dos o se recomienda siempre la esterilización para evitar todos estos problemas, las inyecciones anticonceptivas a largo plazo también causan estas enfermedades, lo que yo les recomiendo a todos es esterilizar porque de esa forma les garantizan a sus mascotas una larga y feliz vida.
