I see "page not found" in your comment but I agree with the idea. Moreover, I believe if you build a long-term relationship with a large and strict subreddit (that often posts long reads), you can get a lot from this.

Yes smaller ones are forgiving and friendly but cannot abuse it also.
I think we need to build a good rapport with them, specially on the community that we like. Although we cannot avoid a few toxic people so just be wary and try to show we contribute, Just like what @x-rain mentioned.
Yep, about toxic, I would suggest to avoid Italy main sub, it's full of toxic people, a lot of troll and downvotes
