As I promised in the last HivePosh Weekly, I am sharing the reward amount for the recent mind-blowing Hive link share by @davideownzall:
A lovely sum, isn't it?! π€ π₯
To achieve this, you need to get 1000++ Reddit upvotes for your Hive link share, just like @davideownzall did with record 5,500 upvotes and 200.000 views:
Easy to say, hard to do. π But this is how I see the path to such a result:
- Find a large subreddit (better 500K+) that is
- friendly to blog links and
- has an audience focused on reading (Most subs want easy-to-consume content, for example, a set of images uploaded directly to Reddit; blog links don't attract much attention there.)
Domain search on Reddit
The best way to find such subs is to choose any popular blogging platform and search for its most upvoted links on Reddit (for the past year, for example). This way for blogspot.com as an example:
reddit.com/domain/blogspot.com/top/?sort=top&t=year
Recently, I did this work and posted the conclusions in I Analyzed the Best Link Shares of Medium, Blogspot, and Wordpress... ...HivePosh Weekly #7a postsometimes it's better to write a post for sharing instead of searching on Hive for one.. @davideownzall took my research seriously and tried some subs from the list. Then, I guess, he spotted hot news about a new law in New York, and checked if someone had already posted about it on r/vegan; having found nobody had, he compiled specially for sharing on Reddit and won HivePosh jackpot... (Did I miss something, @davideownzall?) Amazing purposefulness! And proof that
You can have the domain search for peakd.com too to learn lessons:
reddit.com/domain/peakd.com/top/?sort=top&t=year
You'll see that someone got 16.000 upvotes on r/todayilearned for a peakd link. π This share. Though @theworldaroundme tried 2 or 3 times, and, as I know, they deleted her shares. A strict sub. Pay attention to rules of "No recent sources" and especially "Inaccurate/unverifiable/not supported by source".
Keep in mind there might be irrelevant results in the domain search, for example,
- some subreddits can be affiliated with some accounts on medium.com or elsewhere,
- some popular link shares are actually links leading not to posts but to images alone;
- besides, Reddit is full of bots and some upvote counts can be heavily manipulated for commercial or political reasons,
- and I guess some subreddits can post only paid blog links (potentially but I doubt it's an often practice).
Therefore, it is worth taking a critical look at the results of such a search.
Topics
The critics of the modern world or negative predictions of the future are loved by blog-link-friendly long-read-friendly subreddits (I mentioned some in Hiveposh Weekly #7). Reddit's audience is 49% American and widely supports the US Democratic Party. So choose proper topics to whine about π, otherwise, they'll downvote or even remove your link.
What else? Back to the domain search on Reddit. Use the "past 24 hours" or "past week" filter to search for hot topics:
A bonus
This is still a hot topic, and reddit.com/r/BlueskySocial π£173K might support good posts that taste promotional to them - if you don't know, they hope to become a new Twitter. How strict the sub is, I have no idea.
By the way, Bluesky upvotes newbies well, as I see: https://x-rain-here.bsky.social
No guarantee they'll bite a good portion of Twitter/X... we'll see. I personally feel there is a consensus against Twitter, wider that the traditional dichotomy "Democrats vs. Republicans", wider than even political reasoning. Twitter is no longer enjoyable, that's the most important thing. Imo. I don't mean it will die but its competitors will grow stronger. For example, many subreddits banned links from Twitter after Musk's famous gesture.

Thanks for these tips.
You do a lot of work there and sharing it with us.
Have a nice weekend.
Thank you! Hope my thoughts will help in some way.
Enjoy the weekend!
Incredible work by david, that record is going to be hard to beat!
Yup, a couple of times; one was I was new and hadn't participated in the sub, and the second was I did not follow Reddit rule about self promotion. - I struggle to follow the rule - No more than 10% of your posts and comments should be self-promotional.
For every self-promotional post (linking to the hive), you should have at least nine other posts or comments that contribute meaningfully to discussions, engage with others, or participate in the community without promoting yourself. Though it is doable, it will take a bit of time.
Also, I tried sharing other authors' posts last week, which I thought were good, but I cannot control comments that do not sound nice, and I do not want to upset other authors about that.
I will try to carry on sharing, but it will be mostly from my posts to help out a little, and it is helping me with some of my favourite hobbies and learning from people's feedback.
In general, this activity is really fun, especially if you put your effort and time into it. π
You can share your posts on Bluesky - coming soon. So researching the platform and building the account there in general is a good idea, probably. https://peakd.com/posh/@blueskyposh/bluesky-posh-share-hive-content-on-bluesky

.Great advice and tips there, @x-rain ; maybe posting once in a while with lots of thoughts put into it is better than many shares; there is a good possibility of not breaking self-promotion rules. Well done for your research and work. π
