RE: July-September Homeschool Miscellany

It would be great if your kids got into black smithing! That’s a really good thing to have and can certainly be a lot of work but it’s a trade that’s in short supply in the day we live in.

I’ve never been to cirque but I have wanted to go for years. Hopefully we will see it sometime in the future!

Both have been interested for a while but I couldn't find anything for ages, and apparently this mob have a website but I could never find it?! o_O I guess my search-fu wasn't particularly strong on the day I was looking (and in fairness I did only look either on the one day or very infrequently, as I feel like there's way too much stuff on now).

What kind of things are blacksmiths needed for these days? I feel so ignorant right now x_x

Cirque du Soleil is pricey but worth it.

Blacksmiths do a lot of work for crafting things for fences and have a lot of relational work for people who do welding. I think a lot of times blacksmiths end up also doing welding because they are very closely related!

For example - blacksmiths can make custom wrought iron fence posts for a home or business. They can also make stair handrails and things of that nature. We've seen a few different blacksmith shops when we've been to autumn fairs and they really do make some cool stuff! This one guy who was about 19 or so said he started doing it and his business took off because not a lot of people were doing it and now he's making a pretty substantial amount of money!

Oh nice! I'll try to get on to that next year depending on if the boys are still interested. Thanks ^_^
