It’s the 21nd day of quarantine and I have so many mixed feelings regarding what is happening right now not just in Spain, but all over the world! We are all in this together and it is so funny that with all the restrictions that we have (that we should stay at home, not touch or kiss, or have any kind of contact) it actually brought us together, emotionally at least, more than ever.
I see it with families, communities, my colleagues, in all the gyms and places that I work. Everyone is taking care of themselves by staying inside, but also thinking about the others and wishing and wanting the best for the ones around them! Many years from now we’re gonna remember that we saved the world just by staying inside.
In everything there’s a good part and a bad part... the bad part is obvious, it’s all over the media, all over the place!
The good part is now we kind of have like a forced holiday, so we have more time with our loved ones, time for ourselves, time to do those things we always said we would do.
Here are 5 ways to embrace a healthier lifestyle during this quarantine:
Follow a strict routine
I recommend you to wake-up and go to sleep at fixed hours. Remember to stay hydrated, to get some fresh air daily and, if you can, stay in the sun for at least 30 mins. Also eat fruits and veggies daily.Don’t stretch too much outside of your comfort zone
You’re working out by yourself most of the time, so try to properly warm-up before every session and don’t forget to stretch afterwards. This way you minimise the risk of possible injuries.Try workouts that you are familiar with, or that you feel comfortable with the effort you put in.Falling is ok, as long as you rebound
If you skip one day don’t give up. Just get back on track the next day. Don’t beat yourself up about it. It happens to all of us. Don’t worry. You’re human.Measure
Keep count of whatever you do and measure your body (dimensions and weight). Numbers ground you and give you some sense of progress.Just enjoy
Enjoy this time you get to have with your family, or just with yourself. You can (re)connect, (re)discover, you can take care of your body, mind and spirit.
Great advice! I've honestly been surprised that I haven't gained much weight (0.8 kgs) over the last two months, especially since I've gone from eating one high-protein/veggie meal a day to 3 carby meals... and I think the measuring part has been important to keep me honest.
yes, the measuring kept me on track as well. Keep up the good work!
fully agreed :)
thank you
yeah i'm having trouble with the carbs during lockdown. I do miss the gym!
try working out at home! Stay safe!
