Do you love Hive and want to travel to a Paradise? Some may or may not know, but i own a hotel on the shores of Lake Atitlan in Guatemala and for the first time ever im making a call out to Hivians. We seek Hive friendly receptionists and any interested Devs to come be part of an experiment to bring Hive and HBD to a real world tourist economy, as Lake Atitlan attracts nearly 500,000 tourists every year.
Our hotel is nestled on the shores of Lake Atitlan, it sleeps 60 and has 2 cafes, a yoga platform, sauna, paddle boards and views galore. We have been hosting volunteer receptionists since 2010 when my wife and i started our Guatemala adventure. We have hosted over 1000 volunteers in our 15 years of business through a website called Work-away. Our hotel has the highest host rating of all hotels in all of Guatemala. We have even already hosted nearly 10 Hivieans over the years, but this is the first time we are openly calling out to the Hive Community. Check out some photos of past volunteer reception teams.
We want adventurous fun loving Hivians, ready to create a small Hive ecosystem. Our hotel is creating a pilot program to utilize the 1 tap Hive Debit card for use in our hotel and 2 cafes. Offering an enticing opportunity to load up the debit card with HBD at check-in and to reap discounts through already existing projects like @spendHBD and @Distriator. Our first goal is to create a frictionless front desk experience and demonstrate the unique tools and use cases of the Hive Blockchain. For this we need receptionists that already know and love the Hive Blockchain. Is that You?
What is being asked?
25 hours a week of helping at the reception front desk, for this you have room and 2 meals a day in Paradise.

When?
Did you book your flights yesterday? Some of the early team is going to be there as early as May 1st. More by May 15th and we would like anyone interested to get there by the latest June 1st. We want a solid month of working out any kinks so we are ready for the influx of summer tourism that kicks off in late June.
We are a high turnover hotel, and expect our normal days in peak summer season to see between 10-30 guests rotating daily, meaning this hotel could turn into a hive onboarding beast. But we want to do it right, make it easy and fun, with some immediate perks. We will seek to discover the most fluid way to onboard from our reception desk. We may run several trials with lite accounts, proxy accounts and personal accounts… each trial with an immediate feed back loop survey given during check out.
But again, this is why we are seeking receptionists that already love and know hive, because we do not want to also need to train new receptionists on Hive itself.

What to Expect
The town here at Lake Atitlan is known for being bohemian, with lots of yoga, massage therapy and in the last years an ecstatic dance scene has emerged, with dance temples and famous dj’s arriving to town. From dance temples to chocolate ceremonies, from frog venom to ayahuaska retreats hidden in the hills, meditation to darkness therapy…there are lots of eclectic things to explore. Not to mention hikes and waterfalls and the Mayan Culture with its colorful dress and proud history. With cheap public boats that go all over the lake. Lake atitlan is a unique place…with 5 different Mayan languages spoken between its 13 villages, and all surrounded by volcanoes. The other cool bit, is it’s crypto friendly, with regular meetups and many locations already accepting bitcoin and multiple bitcoin atm’s. To some it is already known as Bitcoin Lake.
Our hotel has many stages for various performance needs. We have a professional circus rig and a beautiful yoga platform. We regularly host entertainment. And this is another factor that we want to bring with our Hive Hub. Hive open mic nights, Hive meet ups, movie nights and Hive speakers and of course live Hive hub podcasts! Every year we have theatre shows and so we will work toward having a Hive theatre presentation in August.

Our stated goal to start with is…. to disperse the Hive Debit card to our hotels guest and let them use this to make purchases in the cafe. Encouraging them to load there card at check-in, thus creating an immediate demand for HBD to enter into this circular economy. We will encourage them to make posts and any rewards earned can go straight to their Hive Debit cards, creating a kind of easy tourist playground for learning to utilize the Hive Blockchain.
Once we have that working our goal is to expand and onboard at least 10 more businesses around the lake, as well as transport companies.
The bonus in this entire process is a pod of Hivians all in one place for an extended period of time, allowing us to check back in and continue to work with any new businesses.
Throw in campfires, dj’s, live music, paddle boarding, jungle exploring and loads of time for talking Hive and brainstorming or goofing around. 😜 Let’s Go!

With @jthomasewsky single tap Hive Debit card ripe for a test market and an up coming bull run, there was no time like NOW to create a Hive Hub Ecosystem in a Guatemalan Paradise. We are 5 Hivians headed to Lake Atitlan during the month of May and we are looking for up to 3 more. Will you join us for an experiment to bring Hive and its tools to the real world over a 3 month trial? Maybe what we do in these months has legs and continues on, and this hotel can remain a place for all Hivians to have as there first and forever Hive Hub!
We realize that we are not giving tons of notice, so not everyone will be able to join. But anyone who feels called… reach out and lets talk about when you can arrive!
Oh, so this is the "big thing" that you mentioned a few posts ago!!! I like the idea, and honestly, I thought you were already doing something like that when I heard about your place a few years ago. But you are right; it was too early. Now is probably the best time to start with the HBD journey, as with a debit card, it has opened so many possibilities!
I'm a bit too old to be an "enthusiastic receptionist", but I would like to visit your place somewhere in the future... I have a full schedule for the next 3 months, but I hope that the "HIVE offer" will be available in the future too!

Yeah, at that point we were still putting the pieces in place!
And yeah, the hotel always accepted hive or hbd. But it was rarely used over the years.
This is different as the goal is to drive sales via hbd, even if people don’t fully realize they are using the hive blockchain!
I like the idea of implementing HBD cards, by topping them up with credit and "forcing" guests to use them... As everyone likes free stuff, I have no doubts they will use it to pay for stuff at your place!!! After that, they will be half-hooked to HIVE!

I just flew from Gatwick. I found a very cheap flight on Norse gatwick to Orlando for 380$ and then onward with Spirit to Guatemala City for 190$. Both direct flights. I just booked them 1 day apart and booked an aiport hotel in Orlando for 90$. It was substantially cheaper to do it that way and its good to have a full nights rest between flights.
I would have loved to travel and see places, catch fun and share memorable moments. But, my account balance disagrees.
