Official Launch: D.Buzz is Alive on the Hive Blockchain

Official Launch of Dbuzz.jpg

Built on the $HIVE blockchain, today, we are thrilled to publish the launch of D.Buzz, a different type of microblogging platform!

Just like @peakd or Hive.Blog, D.Buzz allows you to post to the $HIVE blockchain, but with a trim limit of 280 characters.

@dbuzz is about connecting! Beyond being an excellent microblogging platform, we empower you to post directly to D.Buzz from Twitter after you verify your account with us.

@share2steem did similar work between 2018 and 2019, our verification system builds upon this and then adds more, much more! Namely, we won't be requiring you to hashtag #dbuzz in your Tweets.

It's so easy; all you have to do is verify your account on our website and use the hashtag #hive or the ticker $HIVE in the Tweet you want to re-post to the blockchain.

After clicking "Tweet," that is when our techno-wizardry takes over. It will re-post your Tweet to the #dbuzz community on the HIVE blockchain. Easy, Fun, and rewarding!

Disclaimer: @dbuzz is far from finished. As it is now, this is our MVP (Minimal Viable Product). This product is still under active development. However, we wanted to get you using it today! Rest assured, that we’ll be adding to the website and developing this Dapp further.

NOTE: As noted in our previous post, our team is interested in having @blocktrades make a blockchain level change to HIVE and are currently in talks with stakeholders and abuse fighters on the blockchain to ensure that our users enjoy their experience. Rewards will be set to decline for a period of one week and we expect to activate rewards on May 26th, 2020.

The single beneficiary of this post is @null, at 100%.

Test.

I was hoping to get started but that hivesigner isn't a good login. Creates lots of issues. Will you be using keychain at any stage?

Yes, we will be adding the ability to upload images to our site and then we'll be integrating with Hive Keychain after that.

P.S. As stated in the above announcement, this is only our MVP (Minimal Viable Product) we've got a lot of features to add and we'll be innovating from here!

Can't wait. You have a great start and can't wait to see what comes next.

Thank you @niallon11 :)

Also in the same boat as @niallon11... will likely wait until Keychain integration to try it out.

It's one of our top priorities @dhummel for now though, we took the site offline after realizing that @notconvinced is right, community posts show up in people's feed.

We will make publish an update on @dbuzz today.

Maybe I’m missing something, but...

Why exactly do we need auto-posting of Tweets from Twitter to the Hive blockchain? Wouldn’t the better solution be to create a Twitter-like app for Hive and then publish those microblogging posts directly on Hive?

In that scenario, you’re putting the new content on Hive and sharing it elsewhere. Currently, you’re just auto-copying Twitter content for the sake of collecting rewards, which drives no traffic to Hive adds no real value to Hive, in my opinion.

D.Buzz is a complete Dapp where users can micro-blog on the HIVE blockchain.

But if we are realistic, there are a lot of Twitter users who use Twitter due to it's popularity and would not abandon it for a stand-alone HIVE-based Dapp, especially if they are one of the Top Influencers on Twitter.

For them, they can easily share their Tweets to D.Buzz in an effortless way but there is one requirement, they must hashtag: #HIVE, #DBuzz or the ticker $HIVE.

The idea is that most of the top influencers would prefer to hashtag #HIVE to fill the requirement, and with each hashtag they Tweet, they increase the visibility of the $HIVE token, and it's blockchain.

Our long-shot goal is to get D.Buzz to trend on Crypto Twitter among largest of influencers with the emphasis on $HIVE, even more so than D.Buzz itself.

Another thing to look at is HashTags. I use a lot of hashtags in my tweets. When it is translated to a hive BUZZ it takes the hashtags out of the sentence so the sentence doesn't make sense - this is going to make the Hive posts look spammy.

Screenshot 20200520 at 07.50.21.png

This is what the tweet says: see it makes sense to read:
Screenshot 20200520 at 07.52.34.png

The hashtags need to be in the sentence too.

Also will address this with our devs

I do miss Share2Steem as I’m much more an Instagram user than Twitter... Any chance you have plans down the road to fill that void and link into Instagram as well?

Yeah, we have been considering that, but it wouldn't be in the short term future.

For now, we are focused on:

  1. Finding a consensus on the Rewards issue.
  2. Fixing the new bugs that popped up after launch
  3. Adding image uploads.

And rolling out some new features that Twitter and other micro-blogging services lack.

I think that's the right priorities, but good to hear it's under consideration. It obviously seems like the technology would be excellent to port to other interfaces down the line.

As far as rewards, I say let them fall where they may. If short form content captures the most users and attention then it deserves the rewards. When working the best, Hive should mirror the broader internet and "real world" in terms of the opportunities and ownership it can offer. Unfortunately people have a sense of "fairness" that doesn't exist anywhere... and probably never will on Hive either. A Kardashian can post a photo of their ass with a strategically placed product in the background and earn far more money than someone publishing a research paper encapsulating three years of work that makes advances in treating and curing cancer. That's life.

I think an abundance and variety of content like this can force people to rethink and abandon auto voting which could be a good cultural shift, and I say that as someone who uses auto voting!

If we build a large and strong community on HIVE, I think we will be able to have more say in rewards, but for now, we need to fall in line with the culture and current power structure of HIVE . . otherwise our users would suffer from unnecessary flagging and their rep scores would also be affected.

Excellent point @bryan-imhoff and well said!

I like the look of the project and the idea of having my Tweets published automatically is good but when I tried signing in although it initially asked for my posting key as I expected it then said it needed my active key. Is this right?

It only needs your Active Key for the 1st time to authorize our app on HiveSigner.

After that, you can use your Posting Key and this is how HiveSigner works.

P.S. Always double check that you are on the correct website HiveSigner.com and that there is an icon of a closed lock next to the URL of the websites you are on, this is general advice and not unique for D.Buzz.

Thanks for the info and advice. Much appreciated. I will log in later and link my Twitter account. I was only thinking the other day about whether someone would build a Twitter type app on Hive and it's been done. Great job. I look forward to using it and you never know, I might earn a few hive.

Sounds good @jumbobbill.

P.S. We have Rewards set to decline as we consult with abuse fighters such as @hivewatchers to determine the best way to activate rewards. Our target date for activating rewards is May 26, 2020.

Is there plans to use hivekeychain as well? I don't like to give unnecessary permissions.

Yes, we will be adding that.

We have a few things to do first but will be adding it as soon as possible @rishi556.

Will you be adding keychain support? Also it would be infinitely more appealing to me if there was a comment nesting approach, say I made one post announcing this is where my tweets will be, then all future posts are basically just a comment on that post as far as most interfaces are concerned, but if I go to d.buzz then I'll be able to find just my tweets and other's tweets. One of the reasons I never used the other similar platforms is I won't spam my feed with tweets. Hopefully this gives some ideas for future development.

Well . . your posts will be published to the Posts section, not your Blog, so that might help some.

Hopefully this gives some ideas for future development.

Yeah, I hope so too. I also hope that this will break out from some of the restrictions that large HP holders have placed on developers.

We were actually threatened and told to remove Twitter re-posts to D.Buzz, or else . . but after talking with @nathansenn, we are going to continue with our plan to get the #HIVE hashtag trending on Crypto Twitter, regardless of the threats made toward us.

P.S. It also seems like HiveSigner is limiting our website to 40 users at a time.

Ps. Findest du jetzt hive vertrauenswürdiger?

We don't need more bullshit spam from Twitter.

Your users are going to have a hell of a time here.

As a Twitter and Hive user, dbuzz seems like it could have major benefits:

  1. allowing archiving and timestamping of tweets in a decentralized blockchain.
  2. increasing demand for network bandwidth and therefore the Hive token.
  3. allowing short-form interaction and bridging Hive with Twitter to grow the userbase.

@xxxxxxxxxx can you elaborate why you are against it?

Very good news team Dbuzz! Now lets make some noise and onboard the twitter users 😉

Congratulations to the team! This will be a game-changer on the HIVE blockchain!

Thank you @photophile let's make it happen!

Dbuzz the next killer Dapp! Kudos to the team for this wonderful project :)

Awesome! Crazy time to launch but I love it.

Yes 😀 Crazy time!

This is so greatly awesome! Kudos bros. I'm gonna try this one out Right now!

Thanks @jonsnow1983 I'll see you there!

Congrats!

Thanks @jemmanuel 😊

Hello @chrisrice, I would like to remove the link that I had made in dbuzz with twitter, where I can do it.

We will eventually add in an edit or delete button but for now, we took the site offline.

People's Buzz's were being seen in people's feed and @nathansenn didn't realize that Community posts would do that.

For the time being we are re-grouping, looking for a consensus about how to launch for the 2nd time and are gathering feedback.

@chrisrice People keep voting my d.Buzz posts and I feel bad, they are wasting their votes because it’s set to decline rewards.

Ah, is it the autovotes you are talking about? @hivetrending

We are consulting with @hivewatchers and people like @guiltyparties daily to resolve the reward issue.

Our goal is to activate rewards in a fair way one week from now, by then, if we meet our target, you won't have to worry about that any more.

Okay got it.

Also, how far back will d.Buzz go when copying tweets? I was concerned it will keep going backwards for months of my tweets instead of focusing on new ones only.

Yeah, I actually noticed that for @followbtcnews and I logged it to be fixed by our Devs when they wake up.

It looks like it doesn't go backwards for most people, and even for @followbtcnews, it only posted 9 and then stopped.

So it looks safe for now, but when the Devs wake up there will be a decent amount of new bugs to address :)

Thanks!

One more bug to report. The profile data on d.buzz site is out-of-date, including the profile photo.

I just added this to the list of bug to fix.

For more bug reports, just Buzz it on D.Buzz and tag @chrisrice 😄🖐️

Circling back on this. It looks stable now! d.Buzz has stopped going back in time for my Tweets.

Got it, thank you @hivetrending 🙂🖐️

Ooooh I was worried about this too -- I wasn't expecting previous #hive tagged posts to show up once verified, and now autovotes are being wasted. 😬 Might have to refrain from buzzing til the rewards situation is resolved. 🙂

I do love this though!!! And am looking forward to using it often. 😁

Might have to refrain from buzzing til the rewards situation is resolved. 🙂

Ah okay, yeah, no worries . . as stated above, our target date to activate rewards is a week from now.

Thank you for testing our Dapp!

I suggest you find me on discord.

Do you have any clues on how to find you there?

My username is @chrisrice2989 and our Discord channel is: https://discord.gg/SyYhBY

I tried to login with hivesigner and this screenshot below is what it tells me;
Screenshot_20200520060107.png

Please how do I resolve it?

https://hiveblocks.com/@belemo you have to many apps authorized you will need to remove authorization from a few before you would be able to authorize DBUZZ

Oh so that's the problem. I will sort that out. It has been giving me headache.

Hi @belemo.

Go to this link https://hiveblocks.com/@belemo to see all your connected apps and choose an app to revoke.

Then, add the app name after the https://hivesigner.com/revoke/

Thanks. Look at that long ass list, damn 😄

Hi guys,

Just to let you know my rewards don't seem to be set to decline...

Screenshot 20200520 at 07.42.43.png

Looking forward to experimenting with this Dapp. I do a lot of tweeting using the Hive hashtag, so it would be handy if you could switch off automatic posting of Tweets to HIVE and/or set your rewards to null/decline from d.buzz

Thanks guys

EDIT: one of my buzz's was set to decline. The others weren't:
Screenshot 20200520 at 08.00.41.png

@felt.buzz I have addressed these issues with the Dev team and they are working to resolve all the issues asap!

When will be mobile app?

❤️❤️❤️ SO excited to see this project moving foward.

Will have to take this for a spin and see what all D'Buzz is about, thanks for update.

We placed the site in maintenance mode after a major stakeholder indicated their disapproval via downvotes to our app and users . . but we discussed the issues with him and will make another announcement soon.

I see people posting images on dbuzz, how to do it?
