Even though I got cataracts and a form of cystic fibrosis in my hands due to diabetes I still count myself as lucky as I am embarrassed to have lost control of it. It was a wake up call: clear and simple. It could have been much worse. Regarding your friend I would hope he pays attention to his body before his body forces him to be attentive. I’ve lost family members to their inattentiveness to the disease. I’m not going that route. Not anymore.
