I want to be very clear:
I’m speaking out so vocally right now because I want to build on Hive.
It frustrates me immensely that I couldn't just built my game on Hive, but had to look elsewhere for a different tech stack (which included smart contracts, OpenSea support, etc.). I did so because it’s what the game and its players deserved.
But, I believe Hive is an optimal platform for AI agents. Why? Because they don’t need to run as smart contracts but as standalone applications — and Hive is perfect for that. Combine that with a native social media platform and it's a powerful ai agent stack.
However, if Hive wants to compete with other blockchains, we need to get serious about attracting the right talent.
I've just launched an AI agent here, and it was censored and downvoted by a handful of individuals, including the DHF-funded Hivewatchers police.
Why?
We would appreciate it if you could avoid publishing AI-generated content (full or partial texts, art, etc.).
If you do not comply, they'll downvote and spam you to oblivion. Even if you just try to combat a negative reputation attack.
Now, compare that with the stance Jesse Polak, the Founder of Base, is taking. Look at this tweet which got retweeted by him today (I'm primarily referring to the call for agents, not memes):
Farcaster, essentially the Hive of Base, WANTS AI agents on their platform. They understand it’s not a question of “if” but “when.” They know they MUST be at the forefront to stay competitive.
Do you think anyone else would choose to build on Hive if they were treated the way I’ve been treated?
That’s why I’m so vocal. Hive has incredible potential, but if we keep driving away talent and innovation, we’ll never realize it.
This isn't the time to hit the breaks, it's time to accelerate.
So if I get this right. You sucked Jesse's
dick, he tossed you like a bitch and came to hive?
Wrong script, try again.
You need some stake in the game. I wouldn't expect any rewards from all this complaining, you know how it is here. I don't know how you are holding on to Witness #19 with the lack of dedication, I know you can build things, but we can see all the HIVE pouring out.
Sir you just don't get it. He has sold over 2 million hive and continues to do it. Selling helps with distribution. He is literally sacrificing himself for us. Like Jesus.
I spotted that other account that was mentioned in another thread by @lordnasty, the one with all the outgoing action. I'm still thinking @smartsteem after all these years. Everyone was doing it then, so no quibbles about his past antics but I am guessing much of it came from there?
well its not rocket science how much hive he is taking out....not that he shouldnt thats up to him but shows why he is here on hive.....its definitely not to support Hive...

thank God he is taking one for the team and selling every last hive...I will go vote his witness now
well said bro
My rank as a witness should be based on the value I provide. If you can't see that, I'd recommend you to re-read my posts and look at the projects I'm building. Thanks for compliment though re: builder.
Your rank as a witness is one of the reasons we are not moving ahead. In my opinion you should not be a top 20 witness and as a major hive stakeholder I am entitled to my opinion. I downvoted your post for reward farming and complaining.
PS FYI. I am not DHF funded. I am an individual and I own 1M HP. Most of it is purchased by cash. You know cash I believe; it's called USD
Upvoted to counter @jarvie downvote. Bring it on ;)
Always fun times :)
Yes. And you probably forget that I do a lot of abuse fighting and I do it for free :)
Always fun!
That's awesome if you're fighting really egregious things... I do appreciate it honestly and truly. I think we really need to focus on letting people know they can opt out of reward pool stuff. I wish we did a better job of letting people know that they didn't have to be in the reward pool.
Thank you for your time and effort. We won't always agree in what is worth fighting for.
By the way; you and PeakD probably need to power up a bit more hive, eh?
PS: I read this too
There are other useful tools at hive. Thankfully hive is decentralized! :)
Why is @peakd flagging using their dhf funded stake? I'd expect them to be neutral on stuff like that. Ridiculous.
@jarvie is passive-aggressive at times. I have given him this feedback in the past. It’s none of his business or it’s all his business; his call :)
Let him play. :)
One one hand, you say you are building projects, on the other you are making for a quick exit by selling up. We can all see it, so please don't insult me by saying you give a damn about HIVE.
We are all in it for the money.., me too.., so if you are jettisoning the platform, do it quietly and less of the moaning posts pending rewards every 2 hours.
How about you stop powering down. Power up 200k hive (about 10% of what you have dumped) to at least pretend you like hive. And I'll stop flagging you lol. Leech
But you won't do that. All these whiny posts in a matter of hours and you haven't declined rewards in any. A sad leechy leech, that is all you are. All you will be.
Hi @therealwolf, I'm also building AI agents, starting with one for Hive and now another for Farcaster.
To address concerns about spam and Hive's stance on AI content, I limited it to a community that accepted an AI mascot for comments.
I later further restricted interaction to followers only to keep it fun, not spammy.
Seeing how quickly HiveusMaximus was rejected, these concerns have resurfaced, but I stand with you and believe we can manage this by focusing on communities that embrace this new era of AI agents.
Hey @vaipraonde,
that's great to hear! Farcaster is much younger than Hive but gained quite a lot of traction. I've tested it myself but probably joined at a time where it was satisfied from a user-bases and the following algorithm made it quite difficult to gain traction. Which is why I was excited to build the AI agent on Hive.
For interactions, I've also focused on followers and mentions for now. It's interesting how much the output is defined be the prompt though, meaning, you can pretty much shape the ai however you want and it might be interesting to make a standard publicly visible.
Anyway, I appreciate your kind words and I'm glad I'm not alone in my endeavour to build AI agents - even though they're really just glorified API wrappers at this point, but still lots of fun to experiment with :)
yeah, always good to know we are not alone! maybe we can share some XP.
i build it using langchain, but now i want to start using eliza as well and learn how to build on it and take some advantages on those tools.
latter we can do some experimental agent-agent conversation and see what happens.
I just find it hard to believe you can't find any value in voices opposing AI content on Hive. Very soon, most of the Web 2.0 sites will be flooded with fully autonomatically added, AI generated content, crafted just to feed algorithm and create short term gains. This will render these sites worthless and absolutely unattractive for anybody craving human interaction. I don't say generative Internet is not going to have its niche, however, where if not on Hive people will be able to find genuine, high quality content and interactions with other people. We are posed for success in this dynamics. Scenario of AI agents roaming freely on Hive and earning rewards is just shot in the foot for whole project.
Can't we really stand out? Does Hive need to chase every next fad to have a chance to succeed?
You're trying to convince the wrong person. I was simply showing people on Hive what others have already built (ElizaOS) by integrating it with Hive. If you don't want AI content on Hive, that's reasonable, but I fear it won't be practical.
As far as I know, Farcaster doesn't have a centralized content reward pool. So it's like comparing a Tesla cybertruck to a loaf of bread.
the rewards are not centralized as a reward pool for farcaster, but each community can create their own tokens and rewards based on votes/likes, just like here on Hive. Have you seen this:
https://rounds.wtf/
It's not a centralized reward pool that affects everyone else.
It still affects a lot of people and the rewards are as valuable or more valuable then here. Now they are starting to face the same problems (abuse) we have here, like: spam, selfvotes, circle jerking, multi accounts, etc. They just don't have downvotes to fight.
It's different, but not much different.
Maybe it's time to rethink how the rewards pool works?
That's been an issue for ages. I don't see it changing.
which is better? cause I would think its a close run thing...
do we really need AI to make content? What happens when AI is trained on AI content, because AI does not know it is AI content and AI just hallucinated stuff?
There is a lot that agents could and will be really useful, just posting one click AI posts does not seem as one of them, i could be wrong. Not sure how it is different that if i connected ChatGPT and made it post random posts?
And on the downvotes, you upvoted every one of the posts with 100%, not sure what did you think would happen. that looks like using spam comments to selfupvote 100%
I upvoted it to counter downvotes and move the account back above negative reputation.
I'd say you should read more on AI agents, which can be capable of far more things than producing content.
and i just got an example today of what i asked. what happens when this is posted on social media and AI agents accept it as an right answer.
I don't know what you were building and it could be awesome and could be terrible but i look forward to this community finding ways to interacting in healthy ways with good AI tools. It's very important and sometimes on the way to finding that healthy relationship maybe there are some hiccups but we'll need to get there.
Thank you, @jarvie!
All you had to do was set the bot to decline/burn the rewards and this drama never would have happened.
You've been here long enough to have known that going in.
I would suggest burn, as then the bot will earn rep and the curators will get their rewards.
But, you do you.
I thought this is Hive, a decentralised blockchain, not pre-X twitter. I don't mind some drama, if that makes people realise what's going on outside of Hive. I'm not here to follow pre-AI rules, I'm here to question the status quo. The whole world will be shock my A(G)I, but let's just following our same-old rules, eh?
Anyway, thanks for stopping by! I saw a great comment of yours earlier. I see if I can respond to it tomorrow. 🙂
We are hive, a somewhat decentralized blockchain, but the rules from the very beginning over 'the rewards pool' has been original content by a human being or it gets the flag.
IF you have enough hp to get that changed, more power to you, I have books I'd like to review and get paid for my contribution to the quality of the data in the chain, but I can't do that under the current regime.
IF you set the bot to burn, the curators will still grow and maybe take over one day.
you don't want to build you want to make money be honest ....
@hiveusmaximus what do you think?
nice he voted on your comment.....
He votes on every post he comments on. Talking about Crabs in a Bucket. Anyway, thanks for stopping by.
No worries Mr Rich Crab
If you don’t want to put in effort to create content then why would anyone bother to reward or read it?
I can ask ChatGPT for “AI” content I don’t go to a social network to interact with bots.
I understand your concerns. The truth is though that at some point, you won't really know who's human or not. Especially on a decentralised blockchain which can't perform kyc checks, because it is decentralised.
So what we could do is to rethink how Hive social media rewards could work in a world where content is abundant and you don't really know who's human or not.
You could use AI for so much, why content and comments? Who would want to chat with bots?
I’ve said this about Meta’s plans too - once you suspect you’re not really socialising with humans you’ll disengage.
I skip dialog in video games, I certainly don’t want to chat with software on a social network.
