What does Hive Mean To Me?

post encouraging people to write about why they have transitioned to Hive and what it means to them. This is in response to @theycallmedan's

His post consists of four questions, which I will answer in turn

What is HIVE to you?

The best way I can describe it is a vote of no confidence in Steemit Inc and the Steem blockchain's ability to move forward and thrive.

Every since I found Steem, it has consumed my life and has been a big part of my every day. I have posted nearly every day, I have engaged with the community every day, and have contributed to it's forward progress daily.

In the last few months (even before Justin Sun acquired Steemit Inc) I have felt hopeless for the future of Steem. I believe the EIP helped move Steem forward despite it's flaws. As I have said before on my Marky On Air show, no hard fork will ever be perfect, the best we can hope for is changes that improve our system and get us closer to where we want to be. We will never get there, but if we keep moving forward we will always become better.

What do you want to see HIVE evolve into?

I want to see Hive grow into what Steem could never become under Ned or Justin's leadership. A thriving community with regular advancements and daily consistent growth. I have all but given up on this dream until I realized we could do better on our own.

I am excited and alive once again

What do you think about having a large funded DAO for future HIVE development?

We always had this funding, so this is not new. What is new, the community now has the power to contribute to the innovation of our platform in a sustainable way. This power was mostly limited to Steemit Inc in the past and they squandered it.

It is not without fear though, we no longer have a sugar daddy providing infrastructure and development. We are going to need to put aside our differences and work together if we want to build something amazing that people want to be part of.

We are not alone, the entire crypto community are watching!

What does HIVE mean to you?

Thank you for your post. But I think there is still a possibility to have someone like Justin to purchase a large amount of hive to do the same as steem has gone through.
There needs to be fundamental changes in the way governance is managed in hive.

Sure he can try, but he won't have 73M + Exchanges to work with.

I say, let them try! I would gladly accept the increase in price only for them to fall short.

Between dropping almost 5M on a failed schmooze lunch and 4M or so on an asset that is going to likely greatly depreciate over the next 13 weeks, he might be light on liquid funds.

Sure he can try, but he won't have 73M + Exchanges to work with.

That is a fundamental difference. There is no way to get an off-chain deal for that ridiculous amount of power anymore and there is no way to buy it on-chain / on exchanges. Anyone would run out of money on the way there, or be invested so deep in the end, that he/she is rightfully very powerful. HIVE would be way beyond 10 bucks by then...

The mingle in of the exchanges, that was though and though illegal behavior. Unbelievable that it actually happened. I bet my ass there was black money involved. Not on CEO level, but on some administrative level. There was someone to log in and push the PowerUp Button.

If I would have to answer that, my answer would be pretty much what you wrote, with a higher focus on the fact that Hive is a lot more decentralized with Steemit Inc out of the picture. Also I am so watching Braveheart tonight now! 😁

It means a real COMMUNITY ready to go take the next step.

Just hope we won't lose the momentum gained on twitter in the last few weeks and we just might be on the right track ;D

The paradigms have changed, HIVE is way more inclusive then STEEM was. I don't think we'll lose any momentum anywhere.

That's true though, need few more exchange listings and we're good to go.

Price is 30c while I write this, we really don't want to overshoot too fast..

I think you hit the nail on the head....This move was for me as well, a vote of no confidence.

It was exciting to think of the potential of Steemit Inc under a more 'influential' company but literally on day one, it went to hell.

The move to HIVE is a fresh start but still brings everything we loved about Steem here.

Couldn't be happier for this blockchain!

When does some of that ninjamine get delegated to antiabuse?

On Hive or Steem?

On hive, steem is pure milk, now.
Didn't steemcleners and spaminator take delegation hits?
Some SFR support would be nice, too.

I think @theycallmedan is helping out @spaminator, etc.

SFR, or @hive-dr now, relies on existing members downvoting with coordination. The bot itself only has roughly 20K HP to work with.

I am excited and alive once again

I feel the same. reinvigorated..

Awesome post! I love the initiative of @theycallmedan but unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to answer all the questions since I'm not the most informed person lol. But it's a great pleasure reading others' posts and seeing their perspective and maybe learning new things!

The best thing about removing the totalitarian government is that things will go faster than before. When you know the place is yours, you care about much more.

Congrats Mark. I know you've been a superman in the Steem blockchain.
