Squee!!!
AREN'T THESE THE CUTEST LITTLE LETTUCES YOU'VE EVER SEEN?!
Okay. I need to calm down. They're just too damn adorable. Their heads are only 3-4" across!
This 60 day heirloom variety of lettuce dates back to 1850!
I plan on growing these because of limited space in the greenhouse. I should be able to grow several without crowding them too badly. I'm my own worst enemy when thinning seedlings and I always grow more than I should for the space I have. I'll eventually get it right. ;)
Other veggies, herbs, and flowers I plan on growing include...
Parisienne Carrots
Chinese Five Color Peppers
Cilantro
Corbaci Peppers
Crackerjack Marigolds
Muncher Cucumbers
Jet Black Hollyhocks
Little Gem Lettuce
Danish Flag Poppies
Common Chives
Chinese Cabbage
and Thyme
Those are adorable! Squeeee! indeed!!
I already want to chomp on them!
I recently posted an article about making seed tape. It works well for lettuce, if you plan on direct sowing it, and it eliminates thinning!
Those little lettuces look like you could just put a couple whole heads on a plate for a beautiful salad!
That's a great idea! Thinning is my biggest enemy. I literally feel awful pulling tiny plants up. I'm going to go find your article now!
It feels just a little bit like murder. :(
You always have the BEST choices!
I already added the Little Gem Lettuce to my list and now this one too!
We are BIG salad eaters in this house!
Thanks, @goldendawne! We eat a lot of salad as well. It's so nice to able to just walk out and grab it from the garden. Can't get any fresher than that!
Your list looks divine.. Looking forward to seeing you fruits. Love always
I can't wait for Spring and Summer! Thanks, @abbijulie. :)
Baby/small vegetables are the latest big hit with chefs these days. Maybe you can grow a bunch and sell them to a few fine dining establishments?
Unfortunately I don't have the room to grow more than what we will eat. That would be a great idea though! Thanks for stopping by, @barriault!
So cute!!!!
i have been eyeing those adorable little lettuces for a while now - SQUEEE indeed! they're the perfect little snacks for dipping into a dressing and then CHOMP CHOMP!!
I agree! I can't wait to eat them!
Spring garden ideas. :)
Yep! Do you have a garden? I mean, more than a rock garden. ;) Haha!
Yes but I’m sure it’s not nearly as impressive as yours. Lol
