Awesome post! I live in chicago and currently am getting all the materials together to grow microgreens for myself.
A method I have been using to reduce consumption is simple and cool: I put all of my clothes on the hanging bar backwards. In a month or so I will easily be able to see what things I don't use and I can donate them!

I may just make an urban homesteading post soon. You've inspired me, although I feel like I can always do more to reduce my footprint it's satisfying to make small progress.
