Making a cheap dust collection system

Hi all,

I made another video this time about improving my dust collection. I got nuts of the dust in my workplace and i don't like to always wear a dust mask...

So i attached my shopvac to a oil barrel! Looking back i would go for a Karcher WD5 or 6 or take a little bit smaller barrel :D

All in all i had fun.

Some impressive handyman skills here! That´s something I don´t have for sure :D :/ Good job man, looks really cool!

@tipu curate

Great device! How do you manage to make sure that dust actually stays inside the Barrel? Have you inserted a form of filter there like water, oil or else?

When the dust hits the barrel in a downward spiral it loses allot of energy and thus drops down.

The semi clean air goes to the vacuum cleaner that has a hepa filter

:) that looks awesome! and the best part is the cost of it! :P

HAPPY EASTER to u!

No money spent and it worked out in the end. And reused existing resources. Fits your name. :)

Exactly you get really far if you spend your unpaid hobby time on this!

Were your husband always talented with his hands? I don't have a knack for it, but I think it gets better the more you do it.

It's works nicely, but I see the barrel cap/cover is jerking while your turn on the machine, just make sure it does not blow up due to high pressure inside the drum.

Good job, you've got some skills mate.

Yeah i saw but i think you mean low pressure inside the drum :D. There is only a vacuum in the barrel possible.

I presume the drum is sealed and air and dust drop into it, if the air resides and gets more air without leaving the drum, the pressure will be high. How do you mitigate it?

but the air cant reside in the drum....
The vacuum only sucks, lets assume the hose gets stuck you get a bigger vacuum, never a high positive pressure.

Lets say i put a pump on it to make positive pressure in the barrel than the lid will just go up...The lid isn´t fixed, it stays in place only if there is a vacuum

Okay that's nice. Now, if you have a barometer, try getting the air pressure reading inside the drum. But, I'll assume it will below 14 PSIA in a proper vacuum.

Yes, you are right, I supposed the lid jerking as the pressure building phenomenon, but now I am feeling it was due to vibration in the pipe. Thanks for more explanation.

WOW!! 🤩
I always wanted such workplace at my home where I can work on such creative things which I can create from scratch. Though for now, I'm only focusing on creating new dishes everyday with full of aesthetics.

Nice and smart move! Such a time and money saver :)

Interesting hobby, look like so creative work. keep it up! 🙂

Great device!
You've just attested to the fact that human innovation and creativity have no limit.
Thanks

Yay! 🤗
