Color at sun up

Wednesday was a total washout. I called and cancelled the ride to exercise class. I eventually got the kitchen cleaned up but spent most of the day resting/dozing/sleeping. I felt bad enough in the afternoon I called the doctor’s office to see about being checked out for walking pneumonia. I’d been sick off and on for nearly 2 weeks.

They couldn’t get me in but said to go to Urgent Care in the morning, so I would have my #2 intern to take me.

I was up at 5:30AM on Thursday but wasn’t doing so well. I got the kitchen cleaned up and waited for my #2 intern to arrive at 8AM. I planned to set her to work on the firebricks in the wood stove while I got a shower.

When she hadn’t arrived by 8:30AM I got in the shower. She arrived about 8:40AM and we headed over to Urgent Care. They gave me an X-ray and multiple tests and announced no pneumonia just a really persistent viral upper respiratory infection.

I had sent my intern home to work on the firebricks and when she returned to pick me up, I was getting into the car when an older woman backed right into her. Minor damage to both cars, so they agreed to let it go.

So we got back to work on the firebrick. She had not been able to get the new bricks in, just a fraction of an inch too large. So we started sanding them down on a side and eventually she got all but 1 in. She left late for her next thing.

I managed to get the last one sanded down and in. I rested for the rest of the afternoon and about 4PM I got up and laid the fire and lit it. All this week it’s been cold in the house as we’ve not gotten the promised sun. If I had done the stove earlier in the week and lit it, we’d have had sun and the house would have been in the 90’sF.

Not a great photo but the job was inspected.

My helper friend arrived at noon and opted to be outside away from sick me. So he started the Big garden clean out.

He started on the north end and pulled out that huge mound of nasturtiums. Then he could find the row of Walla onions that were under them and harvest them. I went out a while later and brought them inside.

Next he pulled up the artichokes that were done and started on the basil. He found one plant untouched by the cold and saved it to take home. Then he got the rest of the nasturtiums, the tomatoes, and some of the weeds.

He worked until 4PM and came inside and decanted the last of the sauerkraut and got it into the fridge.

By 6PM it had warmed up to 70F in the office. I did not light the masonry heater. That takes a long time the first time and burns for 24 hours and I don’t need heat in that part of the house during the day.

My son messaged me from work about 8PM saying the northern lights were spectacular but neither I nor the camera nor the old phone could capture it. The phone did get the moon though.

So I didn’t do much of the work that got done, it wasn’t me.

On Friday my helper friend is here again and I’ll let him decide if he wants to be inside or out. It will be pretty cold out at 8AM. But there’s plenty to do inside as usual.

Sort:

My husband plans to clean the chimney tomorrow so he can start building fires. It has been a bit chilly recently. The sun warms the upstairs nicely yet, but not the basement.

Our first stoves were in the cellar of the small house. The benefit was it warmed the cellar walls and bulbs planted near them would flower early, sometimes in January. The next addition had a stove on the first floor and the stove in the cellar. Those 2 kept the whole house nice and warm.

With the 2nd addition we put in the masonry heater and planned to have a wood stove in the cellar to heat his rod shop. But alas... Now it's a workshop and has no stove. So the 2nd addition is a bit cold at this time of year because the masonry heater is too much heat for autumn. But the office is nice and warm!

We never heated the 2nd floor because between the sun (the whole house is set up for passive solar heat) and the wood stoves it was sufficient.

Are you taking medication for that? Poor love. Glad it's not pneumonia.

It's viral, so no. Just lots of tea and rest.

You were lucky to have your helper friend aid you with all the chores. Maybe your minor breakdown in health is a sign you need some real bed rest? Or at least check out your overall health with a medical professional. Prioritizing our health is one of the neglected secrets to more productivity. I hope you get well soon and get back to the work you love to do. I wish you the best as we head into the weekend. Thanks for writing.

Your helper friend is doing wonderfully well, look at how the big garden is looking attractive and well kept.

Thankfully you didn't have pneumonia. I hope you feel better soon as I know you have a lot of work to do.
Can you believe it is already time for the fire stove to be going? I too had to turn on my furnace this week and reset the vents from summer mode to winter. Ugh! I'm not ready for cold weather.

We’ve been working for quite a while to get ready for winter. I’ve still got leeks and broccoli to harvest. But the big job is to get the dozens of storm windows washed by next Tuesday. That’s when my window people start.

Wow, that will be a big project to do and just in time for all the rainy days ahead.

It's comforting to lie down in the dead of winter. It was good that the sun peeked out for a while. Can winter damage your garden?

It gets down to -25F here for days in winter. So if it’s not prepped, I can lose things.

So sorry to hear that your health wasn’t in good shape. You had been overworked for quite a while!
I think you ought to look into more specific supplements for your body.
This is a top and expensive supplement for people who had Covid or the Covid jab or long Covid.

https://www.twc.health/collections/signature/products/long-haul-formula

Here we could buy much cheaper supplements at competitive prices. But we couldn’t get Ivermectin which would be the best solution. So, we take C , D3, zinc chelate, NAC and Quercetin as a combo.

At the least you should take D3 and Zinc plus C as these have proven to be very beneficial to maintain good health. I have read many papers on these in the past.
I have been helping various people and local villagers with their adverse impacts from their covid shots.

I have been regularly taking D3, plus the Vit K to help it work. I can't take zinc due to stomach issues. I used to take the Vit C but it didn't seem to be helping. I took it for years. So I've pared it down to the ones that actually do seem to help. I've never tried Quercetin.

I forgot about Nattokinase which is very good for dissolving spike proteins.

My friend who had 5 shots of Covid vaxx has been taking Quercetin for three years together with the combo of supplements. Her health has been much improved and she could work as usual. At first, she had very bad effects from her 5 shots: thyroid problems and recurring cysts in her body, prone to catch cold easily. Some of her colleagues had passed away and some could no longer work.

I feel you should take a break because of the little break down you had
I hope you recover fast

Gradually you are getting the work done and getting it to finished which is great

Thank goodness, you didn't have pneumonia but I still think you could do with some rest.

Your cat is so lovely, with its white and brown colours, he shows he's adequately taken care of.

I hope you are much better now.
That was quite a spectacular Moon!
