New West, pushkinia

On Saturday morning I got up and got going at 4AM as I needed to be ready when my general helper came at 8AM. I got the kitchen cleaned up, breakfast and a shower. Then she called as said she wanted to go skiing after the huge dump of snow up in Vermont. She could come for a while in the afternoon to at least get the shopping done.

So I changed gears and decided to finally finish the bills/budget for March. I spent a good part of the day on it and got it done.

She arrived at 3:45PM and we headed out. I had a very large list, multiple items of most things.

Lots of cheeses, sweet potatoes (for sweet potato toasts), cabbages, and onions.

Five heads of broccoli, 7 zucchinis, 18 eggs, 1 lb of mushrooms, and bags of seeds and nuts.

And lots of limes and lemons and 7 avocados. I have about 15 different recipes I want to try and put into the freezer.

We managed to get it all put away in the fridges and freezer. I’d picked up a piece of chicken for supper and had the rest of the “haircut” for a salad.

On Sunday, another cold cloudy day, I hope to get some cooking done. There’s a lot of standing for processing vegs and I don’t know how much I can do. But first I hope to make the granola from all the seeds and nuts.

Sort:

Lots of shopping for essentials and I'm sure this would last for awhile.
Low on carbs and huge on fresh vegetables is the best way to go, for one's good health.

Hello, lovely lady! 😊

Well, I see you've been busy again. We seem to live similar lives in similar climates, just many miles apart. It's been busy here, so much so, the week flew right on by. LOL! I have issues with standing for long periods as well...have you thought of getting one of those cushy mats to stand on? (I have one and find it helps me stay up a bit longer, though that isn't always a good thing, as the suffering comes afterwards. I know you understand what I'm talking about.) You could also do the processing sitting at the table, maybe? I've tried working on the table, (as its easier on me, height-wise; no standing on tippy toe required; still hurts my back just as much though. One benefit of working at the counter, its a great calf muscle builder, with all that standing on tip toe,) but I worry about putting too much pressure on my table and end up back on the counter. It might work for you though, your table looks sturdy. 😊

Looks like you got a good supply of ingredients on your trip. I look forward to seeing the recipes you make with them. 😊

I've got to go watch a couple videos on canning chicken stock, to make sure I don't mess it up, then have to can up a batch. I'll chat with you again soon. 😊

God bless you and your wonderful family. Have an awesome day my fabulous friend! 😊

My problem with standing is I get light headed and if I persist will pass out. I can’t process most foods at the table as the leverage is poor. I built the island high so I would not have back soreness, and it really helped!

I thought about canning the stock, and have the pressure canners, just have not gotten the whatever up to do it.

Oh, that isn't good. I don't get that bad, but the pain levels get way out of hand if I'm not careful. Sturdy tables are hard to find. I started a batch of stock and its sitting in my fridge with a nice skiff of fat on top, waiting for me, but I've run out of energy to finish it. Maybe tomorrow. 😊

Are those stuffs gotten to prepare a meal hope it is not that expensive because currently in my country, things are really massively expensive beyond what we can ever imagine of actually

They are for dozens of meals. I hope to fill the freezer with lots of meals. And it was an expensive trip.

It is cool to see that the freezer is filled with lots of meals. It is actually needed for emergency reason also

Wow
So you really got all of these to prepare a meal?
Please, I will want you to share a picture of the meal when you are done with it so I will know what it looks like
It must taste very yummy and I’m trying to imagine it in my head

It will be dozens of small meals for the freezer. Lots of things I’ve never made before. As I make them, I will put up photos if I can remember.
