This is the seventh video in my Animals on the Homestead Series.
ANIMALS ON THE HOMESTEAD VIDEO 7 – CHICKENS
A FEW THINGS TO CONSIDER
Chickens can produce meat and eggs.
Chickens are fairly common, and even allowed in some cities.
Chickens are rather quiet, but roosters can be noisy.
Chickens, chicks, and eggs can all be used for sale or barter.
Chicken manure can be composted and used as garden fertilizer.
Some varieties go "broody" and hatch out their own eggs!

I am with you on this one.
Chickens came first.
Why would someone think otherwise?
Flipping thing around?
You are loaded with animals.
Glad you shared with us.
Truly never get tired cause you are the voice of the community
about homesteading.
Awesome...do you have all these animals on your farm? How’s the daily upkeep on them? Don’t have chickens now but the closest thing is the farmers market where I can get pastured eggs, beef, chicken and raw dairy. Love chickens though, especially the colorful ones. Love silkies.
Chick-Chick-Chickens!...:)...
Sure enough!
Thats lovely! I didnt know that chickens can be so friendly. We had them in my Grandmothers house, but was very difficult for me to touch them :) It is nice to be around animals and build a strong connection with them. Keep up the good work!
The @little-peppers keep these ones pretty friendly, and they even come when they are called.
I love chickens @papa-pepper
wow! @papa-pepper ..now I know..chickens can be cuddle like dogs or cats..thanks for sharing this video..Your chicken has an amazing color!
They are fun, and can enjoy sitting on your lap.
Oh yes!
I will never stop learning from you my boss.
You have indeed enriched my knowledge in so many aspect.
Thank yoi so much @papa-pepper
My grandparents own some chickens and I have to say, the difference between fresh, home-grown eggs and those I buy in the store is big... Also, I feel more comfortable eating those home-grown ones not having to worry about it's origin :D

Great information, I can't wait to share with my wife as we start down this journey. Resteemed
Wao! I really love chickens. Ours used to be a small homestead containing chickens and snails. They can be a fun watch, especially when those eggs begin to hatch and produce smaller chicks. They can be very attractive; chicks of different colour etc.
It's really nice of you letting us have a view of how your homestead looks like. Thanks @papa-pepper!!!
Well done, i'm definitely looking forward to more of them.
Much love!
I love chickens. I eat chicken's egg almost everyday and I love the meat too
Yes, the chicken did come first! :-)
Nice! ;-)
So lovely @papa-pepper.. How amazing it is been friendly with all thoes animals. I could remember when my teacher usually say that "Animals are your friends" I could hardly believe that but now I need no more preachers 😂... But I love chicken @papa-pepper but I don't have a penny to get some for me and my people over, so sad😔 ..hope you enjoyed your time with the chickens.
Oh yes, animals ARE our friends!
Chickens are also the gateway animal. You start with a chicken and then chicken math gets in the way where 'a few chickens' actually means closer to 30. Then before you know it you have a goat, a few ducks, and meat rabbits with plans for more.
Lots, and lots, and lots of animals once you get hooked!
what a wonderful chicken you had @papa-pepper
Thanks @bien! We really enjoy them!
yes it was really enjoyable things to do in life @papa-pepper 👍👍

Lovely cheken producing good egg but did you incubate the egg or you sell directly I mean artificial incubation
We have not done that yet, we only let them hatch their own so far.
It is a very complete information about animals, it is inspiring that you care about animals and you care so much for them!
Thank you, I am glad you enjoyed it!
Getting really close to your episode buddy.
Stay tuned!

I hope I can tend as many animals as you do, @papa-pepper! That's one definition of a good life. 😊 Cheers!
It can be a lot of work, but we enjoy it!
That’s the best, @papa-pepper. ☺️ Hoping to see more of the animals on the homestead! Have an amazing weekend!
Your good work is not in vain, a lot of eggs you get.
I really like the quail egg it tastes very delicious.
Us too! Quail eggs are great!
yes, quail eggs are very much a benefit.
Great video Papa Pepper! Nice hat too. Sadly our chickens were killed by raccoons the other morning. We had one hen survive and she is still alive. If she makes it another day I plan on making another post updating.
