#37 Humans Of Steemit : @natureofbeing (A True Artist Who Is Living Life Fully From Her Heart)

37.png

Oh wow Steemians.

I cannot tell you how happy I am to share these lovely woman with you all.

She is probably one of the most loved Steemit peeps on the blockchain because she is so giving, so full of life and just has a mega kind heart.

And as requested, I dotted her artwork throughout the post!
So without further ado,
I present to you :

@natureofbeing

ENJOY!

Q&A

Who are you? Tell us anything and everything you’d like us to know about you!

(weirdly enough this is the hardest question for me and I really have no idea what to say)
I am, I feel, I do, I think, I create, I feel, I enjoy, I love, I live

What makes your heart smile?

my dog lucy most easily elicits a smile from me.

How did you get onto Steemit?

My friend Johie (@fairytalelife) told me about it and encouraged me to come aboard and even introduced me to other steemians who’ve helped me immeasurably.

Where do you want to die?

Either outside under a tree in warm weather on a thick carpet of dry moss (I’m warm and com-fortable) with balmy air against my skin and birds singing nearby. I want to be surrounded by as many of the people who’ve made my life worth living as possible! Ideally I have a little time to prepare myself for this too.

When’s the last time you cried?

About a minute ago thinking about lying under the tree and the sweetness of hearing the birds sing and the warm air and the people I love. It wasn’t a big cry, but tears did well upl!

What’s something you DON’T like about all this new technology?

When we use it to avoid dealing with ourselves, or each other or life. And the self consciousness that’s arisen with all of the selfies.

What mistake do you keep making and why?

I’m far too optimistic about how much I can accomplish. I work a lot and very efficiently yet am always up to my ears in too much to do because I agree to insufficient timelines and budgets for work. But the good thing is that this comes from a) wanting to do everything and embrace life fully and b) from believing that I’m superhuman and can do anything I put my mind to.

What’s the best advice you have ever gotten?

To listen to myself, to others, to nature.

If there was something you could un-do, what would it be?

Going into debt, ever

Imagine that you magically have the ability to keep being alive without sleep, what would you do with the extra time?

I’d play more - dance more, go to see more art and live music, I’d spend more time with friends, I’d go for more hikes and excursions out into nature, I’d do more mentoring which I love. I would write more and curate more for steemit! I’d read more about crypto and spend more time pre-paring food and maybe even growing it. I’d have more animals.

What’s the stupidest thing you’ve done that actually turned out pretty well?

Oh my, so many things!!

Probably the stupidest but also most brilliant was deciding to make art my livelihood ;-)
OR
Moved to Seattle in 1990 sight unseen and without really knowing anything about it and con-vinced 3 friends to move with me.

What makes your belly ache with laughter?

Give me 10 minutes on the phone with my friend Heather and we’ll both be trying not to pee our pants with laughter.

Tell us about 1 significant event in your life that really made you who you are.

Taking a pottery class my sophomore year in college. When I worked with clay for the first night of class I felt I’d come home.

Here is a photo of me aged 10 that I've always loved

What would be the scariest monster you could imagine?

Some of the current world leaders who are so greedy that they will sacrifice human life and our natural world to meet their insatiable needs.

What does Steemit mean for you?

Ahh so much! It’s meant so many new friends and conversations that have given new breath to my life! It’s been a catalyst for helping me find my voice which has made all the difference. Steemit has also meant that I can continue as an artist. 2 years ago I’d hit a wall because of the changing economy and the equation of making art and being paid was no longer working. I had plenty of work and interest, in fact more than ever, but people seemed to have a much lower budget with which to purchase it. The work more for less paradigm was eating me alive. Steemit has opened the door of getting paid for the other end of my work - the process! And lastly, I love being able to support other people too with my comments, my friendship, my up vote, it’s so win-win.

What would you like your last meal to be?

It would include chocolate mousse, some wild smoked Alaskan Salmon, avocado, cucumber, Castelvetrano olives, some of my perfect mackerel salad with plenty of celery, fresh Romano beans steamed to perfection, Mcconnell’s Mint Chip ice-cream, really good ginger cookies, flan, affogato, perfectly braised lamb, a few kinds of cheese - sheep’s farmhouse cheese, Humbolt Fog, and some delicious Israeli feta, fresh figs, dates, pomegranate, pear, some raw honey, some Himalayan sea salt Bulletproof chocolate, really good carrot, some super crunch romaine lettuce with pieces of butter-sautéed herbed shredded chicken inside, a soft-boiled 6 minute egg with salt, kelp and some Nori, lots of fresh sugar snap peas in the pod, crusty Grand Central Bakery baguette with salty Irish creamy butter, a few Speculaas, ….to name a few

If you could change your name, what would you change it to?

Veronica but said with a Czech accent

If you could be an animal for a day, which animal would you be? Why?

Well, if I was to live life as an animal, I’d choose to be an elephant. It would love to be so large and to have such a complex and nuanced understanding of the world, to love my tribe so dearly and to live in such a rich web of relationships, to live so long, to use vibration to communicate and be safe from most predators. Also to have such cute babies!

However, if I had to choose an animal to be for just for one day, I’d be a Robin. Funnily enough I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately as I walk in the mornings because they seem to be eve-rywhere this week. Flying…that’s a dream for me. And they have such a beautiful song, they are a symbol of spring, hope and new beginnings, and they aren’t as vulnerable to predators like raptors.

A Durga Yantra

What are you insecure about?

Just about everything

Describe your ideal life.

My time is wholly mine, plenty of resources of time and money to travel, or do as my interests take me, I work as I want to, I live in a beautiful place and all my friends are my neighbors, I have access to healthy sources of all of my favorite and healthy foods, I have tons of support of all kinds, gifted healers are close by, talented and dynamic people all around engaging in inter-esting and life-giving endeavors, beautiful art, architecture and nature close by, I thoroughly en-joy my life!

Have you ever saved someone’s life?

Not literally

What do other people think is weird about you?

That I’m on steemit so much.

Me throwing on the wheel

What do you think is one of the best things about you?

I have an effervescent enthusiasm

What’s one responsibility you really wish you didn’t have?

Paying taxes.

Sometimes loveable animals, this is a pool mosaic installed in Montauk, NY

If you had a personal flag, what would be on it?

It would be the gif. @stellabelle made for me.

If a genie granted you 3 wishes right now, what would you wish for?
  • my ideal life
  • 3 more wishes
  • a lovely home and studio of my own with a beautiful view
What do you think about when you’re by yourself?

It depends, but most often it’s either something practical or something about the nature of “things” in life, more existential kinds of thoughts analyzing how things are and why.

What would you want to be written on your tombstone?

Ruth Frances Greenberg
She enjoyed her life
1967-2065

Who is the person you trust most?

My Yorkshire Terrier Lucy. She is tone of the smartest and most devoted beings I’ve known.

What’s your favourite word?

Today it’s applestruedel

A very intimate piece, this is a 10" glaze painting

If you had 25 minutes to do anything you wanted without external consequences what would you do?

Today it would be to sit each of my family members and a few other people down and say every-thing I would like to say to each of them. Not what they need to hear, nor what’s reasonable nor helpful, but just to vent out all of the old crap -the unresolved hurts and misunderstandings - so I can move on clearer and cleaner. Selfish I know ;-) but oh it would feel so freeing!

Who is your fave (or one of your favourite) Steemians and why?

Today it’s you. you put a lot of effort out to build community and use your creativity to engage. Your inclusivity, kindness and abundance of energy has positive ripples here.

Quince Tree mural - I've made more of this design than any other!

If you were arrested with no explanation, what would your friends and family assume you had done?

Climbing a water tower or trespassing in some way.

When you looked in the mirror first thing this morning, what was the first thing you thought?

hmm…that hair needs a cut
yup…a judgy look at myself

What’s the most ridiculous fact you know?

I have to quote @kerlund74 here - that sugar is bad for you. It’s just a crying shame that some-thing so wonderful could have such a negative impact on us.
Oh and also, the man who is currently our president in the US.

What is something that you just recently realized that you are embarrassed you didn’t realize earlier?

I misunderstand things all the time so this isn’t an infrequent feeling, but I can’t think of anything specific at the moment

Each year 1 made a set of limited edition cups or some kind of vessels. last year it was Eclipse Cups, here they are and 1 in use.

What is your nickname?

Ruthie, Fannie, Kino

As a Human Of Steemit, how do you contribute to Steemit?

I think I’m a good friend to many here, I sometimes have some good thinking to offer, I love supporting people who are reaching to offer the best they can. I’m not one of those people who is making great waves but in my own way, I think I’ve brought some good to this platform.

My LoveProject is @humansofsteemit! Featuring the humans behind the Steemit usernames!

Not to embarrass her.., but Veronica (Oh, I mean Ruth) has one of the kindest, gentlest, generous heart and soul here on Steemit -- the kind you don't come across everyday. Oh yeah.., and she is extremely talented!

@macksby!!!! Hi there old friend!! Thanks so much for your sweet words and LOL, can you hear the name Veronica in a Czech accent? I have 2 friends with this accent so I do a pretty bad rendition of it but have a blast doing it anyway.

Hehehe

I totally agree!!

I'm new to Steemit, six or seven days. A family member encouraged me to join. Thought it would be a perfect fit: an open forum where ideas flourish and writing is rewarded. This is a unique environment, very stimulating. However, there are a lot of "bots". I'm not sure exactly what they are, but I know they're not human. It's refreshing to meet a human being, a face and personality (an artist!) behind the posts. This is a lovely introduction and has helped to charge my batteries (coffee is key here) for another day of engagement.

Welcome and yes...the bots...I don't like them much either! And thankfully there are still a lot more humans here than bots so don't get discouraged. It only takes finding a few kindred spirits and usually you like a friend or 2 of theirs which lead you to more etc...and soon you'll have a wonderful network of people you genuinely like! Comments people leave are very telling so good for you for writing this one. If you need help, just ask me or any of the other nice people in this comment feed and we can give you pointers if you need.

Very kind :)

I love the cute little pooch lucy! I hear you on the 'going into debt' issue, I also wish I had never done this! Unfortunately it is a way of life for most :/ OMG I love your last meal! haha I have always been a fan of @natureofbeing's but this has made me love her even more! Thank you for this post, it is amazing! :D

:-))) Thank you @beautifulbullies, glad you appreciate food....isn't good food the best?!!

Oh yes! Food is my biggest downfall haha

I love this @ashleykalila such a great project you have started, have really enjoyed all the ones I have read so far. I did not know @natureofbeing, thank you for introducing me to her.

OMG, that last meal!! Amazing:-)
Yes so happy to see you here, glad to get to know some more about you my friend, nice to see you remember the sugar thing :D
It's so easy flying away and wanting to do so many things in the same time. I wonder if this is what creativity does to people;)
Glad to read this, thanks for sharing :-)

I chuckle still to this day every time I think of your answer about sugar :-)).
Interesting to think about this flying away and wanting to do so much being related to being creative. I hadn't thought of it, but it makes sense. Life is magnificent even if not easy and I at times I do just want to gobble it all up, including every meal, hahah!!

@natureofbeing is one of my favorite steemians because she is constant in her production of quality content, writing content and she has a strong character. . I rarely post on large accounts because I work with minnows who don't speak English very well and try to help them develop their social media skills. @naturofbeing doesn't mind, she still visits me! Plus I love her art...hahaha

@reddust, thank you! Reading your comment just makes me want to gush -> YOU have always been one of my favorite people here and are also so authentically you. Over the 18 months I've been on Steemit, I've grown such a deep appreciation for who you are and how you walk in this world so now I'm a loyal friend. Plus you're kind and talented and smart and that always helps :-))!

You remind me of my best friend I grew up with <3

THAT"s an honor, even though I don't know her, reminding someone of a best friend is an extremely nice position to be in!

Wow @natureofbeing I was just on your page yesterday reading your Steemit meetup in Oregon post that @taylerworrell resteemed... some weird 6 degrees of separation going on here😅😅

Lol, guess we were going to meet!! nice to finally interact

Through this post You haven't even met her yet. It's like I've more than met her , She's a woman who can change people and the world.
I wish her all the best

Yay!!! Thank you so much @ashleykalila, such an awesome project and this whole process was a sort of gift. Big Hug

I totally forgot to tell you but your last meal is THE BEST answer I have gotten until now.

You really thought it through!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE

People who love food are always the best people haha

yummmm foood ummmmm, yes I agree I always love people who love food....

That's describe how beautiful and wonderful and talented you are ❤ much love here

Based on this list alone, I think we could be good friends! lol

Loved this look into @natureofbeing. Truly a lovely human radiating beauty, kindness, skill, intrigue!

Lol, yes good food is great isn't it and ultimately creates bonds. Would love to have this meal with all of you!

@natureofbeing, I would LOVE to have a picknick with you. Someday. Some of your answers were so recognizable to me, I believe we have a lot in common!
On the picknick I'll bring some chocolate mousse, some wild smoked Alaskan Salmon, avocado, cucumber, Castelvetrano olives, some of my perfect mackerel salad with plenty of celery, fresh Romano beans steamed to perfection, Mcconnell’s Mint Chip ice-cream, really good ginger cookies, flan, affogato, perfectly braised lamb, a few kinds of cheese - sheep’s farmhouse cheese, Humbolt Fog, and some delicious Israeli feta, fresh figs, dates, pomegranate, pear, some raw honey, some Himalayan sea salt Bulletproof chocolate, really good carrot, some super crunch romaine lettuce with pieces of butter-sautéed herbed shredded chicken inside, a soft-boiled 6 minute egg with salt, kelp and some Nori, lots of fresh sugar snap peas in the pod, crusty Grand Central Bakery baguette with salty Irish creamy butter, a few Speculaas.

(And I'm Dutch, so I can bring you real Speculaas.)

Hello @soyrosa! Oh yes please bring the authentic Speculaas!! The Dutch have a few kinds of this delicious spiced treat and I like the two I've tried - the crunchy cookie, the soft cake-like loaf YUMMY. I love your idea of a picnic....so perfect now as we've become friends on steemit to be able to meet in person with all of our favorite foods!

Would you believe me if I tell you we even have little Speculaas sprinkles that you can put on a sandwich? If you've ever seen our Hagelslag (chocolate sprinkles) you will now know what I mean. I'll bring those as a bonus :-)

Hahaha, really?? That's so funny! And I LOVE those chocolate sprinkles you put on buttered bread. oh I craved it like crazy years ago after living in The Netherlands for awhile and coming back to the US and at the time (1990s) there was nothing here even close to those delicious rich chocolate sprinkles. Yes please bring both the chocolate and the speculaas flavored sprinkles :-)))

LOL! I had no idea you have lived in my tiny country! Love it. I can imagine a thing like that becoming a craving after going back home. I'll bring both, for sure!

I lived in Holysloot (6km outside of Amsterdam) for 6 months in 1989-90 and was doing a sort of apprenticeship at a tiny tea house-pottery there. I loved riding my bike through the sweeping landscapes of grasses, water, cows and rows of trees.

This is a beautiful post! What a wonderful interview. I love your openness and your honesty. And hearing about some of your journey was really fun. Thanks for sharing this!

thanks for your support!!

What an amazingly thorough and entertaining interview with one of my favorite Steemians!

Hi Eric and thank you :-), the feeling is mutual!

The last meal sounds AWESOME !!! - But what is 'Israeli feta'? Never heard of it -and I'm a feta lover [actually this term is only used for Greek feta, but I get it ahahaha!]
