🎉Few more days and the year is over~. Today about to finish 2021 I'm bringing to you another drawing out of my comfort zone because it's my first time drawing crystals (or I don't remember done it before¯_(ツ)_/¯ ).
So this drawing is based on @noctav 's edition. I had some of time wanting draw this idea and did it finally! Before 2022! 🎯. Btw, I asked her for permission before draw it. She is already notified.

Step by step
Started with sketch, I used a soft pencil for this, @noctav's edition was my reference but I only took owl's position and idea of where it is, their expressions or anatomy are different, because they are different owls (?) Ok no, because I saw other animals of this specie and just was drawing what I captured scrolling on the internet (so I think is not a specific animal of those I searched, mainly 'cause "I knew the general anatomy of this bird" and I drew the most part of its without watch something, you can see my poor general knowledge of owl's anatomy haha), I have to mention that my favorite part of its face are their plumes on its head, like ears, and I wanted to make them unique.
It didn't took too much, I made the composition easily. Think my crystals look better in this step. Maybe I'll add this for my checklist about traditional illustrations to digitalize, I'm better in digital art but the laptop I use is extremely slow and it's freezed all the time, something too frustrating.
After that I colored background with my favorite acrylic paint that I have, ultramarine blue. Because I was planning to color the gems/crystals with light and pastel colors and this can make a great contrast, look like night and mostly owls are nocturnal animals, double win.
Then I colored gems with these pastel colors, I used poster paint on this part (mixing colors with a lot of white). Well I didn't have any idea of what I was doing, just having faith that colored pencils details could save the drawing 😅. I couldn't watch tutorials for a better understanding or any tips, so this was the hardest part on this drawing. Was lot of improvisation.
In this steps I was adding color on the owl, is a magic/fantasy owl so I thought that could have different colors unlike the real ones. And for a clear connection with gems I used same colors but whiter.
I started to use colored pencil for textured details on the animal, mainly on its face, like plume. Its eyes and moon were colored with acrylic gold paint, for a shine result.
Next step was outlining crystals with colored pencils, that was my moment to save it and I did it ... more or less. I used bright colors to simulate shines and reflections and prisms, and all of that things that have gems. But I'm not too sure about the result.
Here I added more details on the owl, like plume with soft colors and its outlining for a better definition from the background.

At first I was thinking on draw the entire animal like crystal, I'm glad I didn't it, It's better start with "easy shapes" like these gems.

I have to improve many details but I'm happy for drew something out of my comfort zone! Hope next tries will better.

🎉 Algunos días más para que se acabe el año~. Hoy casi finalizando el 2021 les traigo otro dibujo fuera de mi zona de confort porque es mi primera dibujando cristales ( o no recuerdo haberlo hecho antes ¯_(ツ)_/¯ ).
Este dibujo está basado en la edición de @noctav. Tenía mucho tiempo queriendo dibujar esta idea y finalmente lo hice! Antes del 2022! 🎯. Por cierto, le pedí su permiso antes de dibujarlo. Ella está informada.

Paso a paso
Empecé con el boceto, usé un lápiz suave para ello. La edición de noctav fue mi referencia pero solo la posición del búho y la idea de dónde está, sus expresiones o anatomía son diferentes porque son diferentes búhos (?) Ok no, porque vi otros animales de esta especie y simplemente estaba dibujando lo que capturaba haciendo scrolling en internet (así que pienso que no es uno de esos animales que busqué, principalmente "porque conozco la anatomía general de esta ave" y dibujé la mayoría de el sin ver nada, pueden ver mi pobre conocimiento general de la anatomía del búho haha), tengo que mencionar que mi parte favorita de su cara fueron las plumas en su cabeza, como orejas, y las quería hacer únicas.
No me tomó mucho, hice la composición fácilmente. Creo que mis cristales lucen mejor en este paso. Tal vez lo añadiré a mi checklist de dibujos tradicionales para digitalizar. Soy mejor en el arte digital pero la computadora que uso es extremadamente lenta y se congela todo el tiempo, algo bastante frustrante.
Después de eso coloreé el fondo con mi pintura acrílica favorita que tengo, azul ultramar. Porque estaba planeando colorear las gemas/cristales con colores claros y pasteles y esto puede hacer un gran contraste, luce como la noche y la mayoría de los búhos son animales nocturnos, doble ganada.
Luego coloreé las gemas con estos colores pasteles, usé temperas en esta parte (mezclando los colores con mucho blanco). Bueno, no tenía idea de lo que estaba haciendo, simplemente teniendo fe de que los detalles con los lápices de colores podrían salvar el dibujo 😅. No pude ver tutoriales para una mejor comprensión o algún tip, así que esta fue la parte más difícil en este dibujo. Fue bastante improvisación
En este paso estaba añadiendo color en el búho, es mágico/de fantasía así que pensé en que podría tener colores diferentes a los reales. Y para una clara conexión con las gemas, usé los mismos colores pero más blancos
Empecé a usar los lápices de colores para los detalles de texturas en el animal, principalmente en su cara, como el plumaje. Sus ojos y lunas fueron coloreados con pintura acrílica dorada, para un acabado brillante.
El siguiente paso fue delinear los cristales con lápices de colores, ese fue mi momento de salvarlo y lo hice... más o menos. Usé colores brillantes para simular los brillos y las reflexiones y los primas, y todas esas cosas que tienen las gemas. Pero no estoy muy segura del resultado.
Aquí añadí más detalles en el búho, como el plumaje con suaves colores y su delineado para una mejor definición del fondo.

Al principio estuve pensando en dibujar el animal entero como cristal, estoy feliz de no haberlo hecho, es mejor empezar con "formas fáciles" como estás gemas.
