The power plant "the Giraffe 2.0" collects energy of the sun and wind at the same time

The Swedish innovative company InnoVentum provided the upgraded version of the vetro-solar power station. A working name – Giraffe 2.0 because to anything other, except as a futuristic giraffe, this construction is not similar. In its composition of 24 standard modules of solar batteries, plus the wind generator on a mast 12 m high.

Summary estimated productivity of such station is 38 kW a day that depending on coefficient of insolation and a wind rose of the region will provide 10-20 МВт⋅ч in a year. The Swedish engineers relied on simplicity of construction and maintenance – "Giraffe" is fixed, however his wind generator rotates after wind, and layout of solar panels allows to catch a maximum of photons at every moment of luminous day. If to deliver construction by the correct side to the sun, of course.

Mission of this station extremely simple – to recharge anything, from batteries of smartphones to accumulators of electric vehicles. It is not the household appliance more likely economic as there are two accumulator rectifiers with peak capacity to 50 kW. Or the device can become an interactive part of a city landscape though it is generally intended for installation where there are no communications and the power line also in mention.

The cost of Giraffe 2.0 begins with $66 000, payback periods depend on the maintenance mode, and it is a source most that on is, net energy. It is not necessary to puzzle and make a choice between wind and the sun – installation offers two modes in one, plus it continues to work out energy even then when one of sources becomes unavailable because of a weather changing.

I'm guessing the 50KW is under peak conditions. I would be interested to see what the average output is.

Although, this is a really great idea having multiple sources of generation. It will likely be windy if it isn't sunny.

I personally prefer the VAWT style turbines as they catch the wind from any direction, as opposed to the HAWT style which have to turn to face it. Overall I think water power is probably the most reliable alternate energy source, since it should supply electricity at a relatively consistent voltage.

Imagine the power you would save on power mining with one of these in the back yard.👍
