Welcome to Hive and the world of blogging! I commend you for being here taking another shot at this since after the first time you were a bit discouraged.
You are who you are. Although your friends were trying to help you look more hip it is definitely true that if the change doesn’t come from yourself it won’t stick. You have to want that change and feel there’s a need for it. 🙂
I can attest to Hive not being like other social platforms. It’s not a one and done now I’m in type of experience. Many people, including myself, have been here since the beginning and it has taken several months to years to get to the point where your posts are consistently being read and supported. Hive is sort of like a “treat others how you want to be treated” type of deal. You already have the right idea and a really good plan with building up your voting power. I always tell others if you want support then take the time to support others.
Previously I shared my beginning experiences on how I was writing posts and waiting for people to find me. I quickly learned that those same people were doing the same thing. If we all wait, no one will be found. I literally spent a whole week only reading others posts, commenting, getting to know them and supporting them the best I could. Within weeks I had seen a tremendous change and growth in my support which has now become consistent due to my efforts.
I share more newbie tips on the first things to do when joining Hive if you want to have a read.
I wish you well on your journey here. I advise you take some time to browse those links shared with you by lovesniper above. As you read and meet new people of interests follow and keep up with them.
Oh and last thing, if you want to post in your native language please be sure to always have an English translation as well. 😉
