You should definitely get into honey bees. There is an upfront cost to getting started, but it's really a wonderful & fascinating thing to experience. They do take time & it is a thinking person's hobby, but that doesn't seem as if it would be a problem for you. Also, I like your chickens, I moved & had to get rid of mine & I miss them terribly.

Honey and maple syrup are on the list! Right now bumblebees and wild honey bees are pollinating my garden+ trees. They did great pollinating the peaches this year! Is it possible to lure wilds bees into a hive box to share their honey?

If you find a swarm and are able to catch it you can certainly start your own hive. I am on the local swarm catcher list so that I get notified if someone needs a swarm removed. It's a great thing because it's a free hive & a strong one being that they have swarmed. FYI: the queen leaves with the swarm, so you have all you need but the hive box.
