Hello Steemworld

I've been meaning to use this platform for a long time but haven't felt like I have anything worth posting here. I've been browsing it from time to time but a friend of mine told me that it gets a lot better if you follow the right people than to check out the trending section. This same person told me to create an account a few times as well and I have him to thank for getting me into Bitcoin back in 2013, I should've listened to him about Steem too but I guess its not too late to try it out.

I'm going to use Steem more as a diary, I am trying to get my life together as I've had collected a lot of bad habits over the last few years that have made my health, sleep and sanity suffer. I'm at a place now where I could do anything but I don't feel ready to get out there and discover the world at the current stage that I am in. I want to use the platform to connect with likeminded people that are into doing sports, losing weight and in general becoming more healthy. I hope I will be able to find such users.

I will probably write some posts about myself, my history and how I got in this situation, depression is a bitch, but maybe I can do something positive with it by writing here and maybe help some others that are feeling the same way.

I want to keep this introduction short so here goes.

I'm a swedish dude in my late twenties. I like to play video games, watch e-sports and my favorite website is Reddit. I've found myself using Facebook less and less over the years except keeping in touch with a few close friends on there.

I've studied IT but for the last half decade I've been fascinated with block-chain tech and spend most of my time reading, investing and trading. I've been thinking of buying Steem in the future and powering up as my friend keeps telling me to do so ever since it was down to 10 cents.

Anyway, if you are interested in seeing a fatty try and lose some weight over this year while blogging about it and talk about his problems, feel free to follow me and comment on my posts, I will try my best to reply and check out your content as well if we share interests.

I'd like to remain anonymous on the platform due to my holdings, hope that is ok. Btw, are there any swedish people around here? Been wondering if I should just post in swedish as that is a lot easier for me to type.

See ya!

Hey dude! Nice to finally see you posting! Välkommen!

I don't think it matters much which language you post in, the swedish community is still pretty tiny but you'll likely find some people that are interested to read in their language, I know I will appreciate it. :)

Hope you're doing okay man, we haven't talked in some time, looking forward to your posts and good luck with your goals! :)

Hej, tackar! :)

Wow, your influence on this platform has become big, haha. I should've gotten in earlier but maybe its not too late yet. You think its a good time to buy some Steem now or should I wait a bit?

I'm not sure, it seems to depend a lot on Bitcoin. Steem usually was lagging behind a bit during uptrends but this time around it was one of the first ones to spike up - either cause it was oversold or maybe cause its been undervalued for some time. Either way its probably the best to buy an amount each day and average it over a month or two, you know the drill. :D

Alright, might need to reach into my cold wallet soon. ^^

rofl, let me know when you do so I'll buy some Steem for that. xD

Haha awww your profile pic is pretty cute.

Hey hey! Welcome to Steemit. I hope you're able to kick those nasty habits you speak of. Writing stuff down and getting it out of your head should help. Following along. All the best for a successful journey

Thank you for this wonderful comment!

¡One of the first steps is trying!

I really hope to see your progress in this, I used to be really, really fat. And with exercise, some running and not so healthy food I managed to change! I'll start posting diets, healthy meals and several types of exercise that helped me loosing some weight and gaining confidence with them Ladysss. You might want to check them out. I hope you know that you can actually find good support out here; this community is great.

Cheers from Venezuela and good luck bro!

Hey there! You're writing about depression and how you're hoping to find like-minded people, so I decided to follow you. Maybe I can learn something myself or am able to share an insight. I wish you good luck in helping yourself through writing!

hello and weolcome to the community!

Welcome to Steemit.
I have started to help the homeless and underprivileged. When you are depressed, you need little projects to get you through week by week.
That has given me purpose. Try it. Go out there and talk to people. You might surprise yourself. Let me know how it goes.

This was a really great introduction. I have just started using Steemit as well.. I work in blockchain technology yet for some reason hadn't dipped my toes into the Steemit pond. But, as I am reluctant to post on Facebook now and wary of trolls in Reddit, I thought I would test it out. x

Welcome to Steemit @depressedwhale. Hopefully your name might change to @happywhale when you are ready.

Do you know about mindfulness? If you check my blog I wrote an article about a project called the Mindfulness Project.

Mindfulness really helps me to be more balanced. If you want to start exploring the world from where you are there are also some of my travel videos in my blog. It might inspire you :).

I work for a pirate ship where we trying to make the world a happier place to grow into. Keep in touch if you want to hear more. You are not alone.

but you maintained your post well brother..

Hi ... Welcome aboard, though actually I'm newer than you are. Puzzled how you get to that rep score but many things about Steemit are puzzling, as I'm finding out. :o) Your English is pretty great by the way.

If you are really serious about losing weight my recommendation would be to go nuclear. When I was warned last year that I was at risk for Type 2 diabetes I researched and found that by losing 15% of your bodyweight you have a good chance of massively improving your blood sugar levels and many other things. By following a low calorie diet I went from 190lbs to 153 in 60 days. You have to grit your teeth, of course, but if you keep your eyes on the prize and see the weight dropping off it's surprisingly easy. I've kept the weight off since August and am now sold on the benefits of keeping skinny and intermittent fasting. On day 2 of a 5-day water / tea fast at the moment. Read Dr Jason Fung's book 'the obesity code' is my advice. We eat way too much, completely out of line with the way we developed as a species, and this is of course in the interests of the food industry and Big Pharma, which profits hugely from everyone suffering the ills that obesity brings.

If you did decide to do a serious diet it might help to blog about it on here. That's what I'd have done if I'd been on Steemit at the time.

Best of luck either way. :o)

Welcome aboard! :)

Welcome. Theres a lot of Steemians in similar positions to you so dont feel alone. Enjoy digging and finding connections.. theres a bit of work involved but its well worth it.
