Hello. I Want to End War.

in #introduceyourself6 years ago (edited)

Hello Everyone. There isn't much about me that I want to say. If you're taking the time to read this, what I really hope to express is an idea. I have an idea that I think could be really useful to all of us. It gives me hope for our future as a society, and I hope it will give you hope too. I'm sharing this idea, but I have no desire to claim it as my own. What I really hope is that someone, anyone, who is more eloquent than me will take this idea and make it better and share it with the world. After all, this is just a seed; An idea that, planted in the right minds, might just grow into something incredible.

I have an idea that I believe could end war globally. It's really simple. The idea is that we should organize a worldwide protest against war.

I believe this can be accomplished quite quickly. We are globally connected and we are well connected. The internet and cell phones have made spreading a message easy, and with a bit of effort word of a global protest could cover the globe in a matter of days or weeks. All it would take is a spark. If a few people believe, a spark would catch fire.

First consider the popularity of the cause. Who wouldn't agree that ending war globally is a good idea? The difficulty is not in convincing people that it should be done, the difficulty is in convincing people that it can be done. But here's the thing, it really can be done, and the more people who hear about this plan the more that truth will become plain.

Just consider the percentages. Say ninety percent of people agree that it would be good to end war. What percent of people can realistically be convinced to try to do it? Maybe half of them, forty-five percent? Maybe less at first, maybe only thirty percent, but if thirty percent of the people start making plans to have a global protest against war more people would join them over time.

What happens when thirty or more percent of the people in the world go on strike all at once? It would shut down the global economy. Politicians would be forced to come to heel. As more people join this cause governments would be forced to listen. We the people could simultaneously demand of our own respective governments that all hostile engagements end, that all deployments of soldiers everywhere end, and that all weapons systems for dealing mass destruction be disarmed.

War Hawks frequently argue against peace movements saying, "The reason we can't disarm is because the other guys, "the bad guys over there", won't disarm, and as soon as we are disarmed they'll come destroy us all.". Well, maybe that argument held water before, but in this scenario it doesn't because this would be global disarmament. Everyone everywhere will disarm simultaneously.

The beautiful thing about this is that it could be done entirely peacefully. Nobody needs to go to war over this. All it takes is the citizenry of every country going on strike. People can just walk away from their jobs and wait in peaceful protest until demands are met.

There are some logistics to consider when planning this. This is why this idea is much bigger than me. The logistics need to be considered and planned for, and will require a coalition of bright minds considering them. Just a few examples: People will need extra food to last during the strike, so before it begins people will need to stockpile extra food. Some jobs should not be walked out on, Emergency room doctors for example. People striking may need first aid or medical assistance. Medical first responders should identify themselves and coordinate with organizers beforehand. There are more things to consider as well.

This is just a basic introduction to the idea. I hope it is enough to inspire others. This isn’t an idea I can do anything about by myself. My only hope is that other people will see it and feel inspired by it. There are people dying all over the world folks. Children are suffering and being killed by militaries all around the world. Please consider that by doing this, even though it is kind of a scary endeavor, we can help those children. We can make the world a safer place for Children and families everywhere.

Please feel free to reach out to me if you want to collaborate on this. If there is something you might be able to do to help, please talk to me about it, or talk to someone else about it. You can email me directly at [email protected], or you can message me on here. (I think you can message me on here...). I am also on minds at https://www.minds.com/ChrisCarlson. God bless you, and thanks for reading.

You could try running for Congress but it's tough to do.

No. This problem is a global one. It isn't about me either, it's not a problem I can fix. It will absolutely require the collective efforts of many selfless people to usher in the era of Peace.

Protests are cool but I think putting a bunch of LSD in the water might help too lol.

Good post, man.

To bad the synthetic chlorine would render it inoperable, however perhaps a strategic aerosol spraying campaign would work.

Yeah. Ever hear of the Brotherhood of Eternal Love? I agree, an aquifir of LSD would wash a lot of the dirt from our eyes too. Unfortunately, due to all the propaganda out out about it, it's hard to convince people that it opens minds. But protest is simple. People understand it. Maybe they can be convinced to protest against war.

Edit: For the record, I'm not talking about protests. I'm talking about one gigantic world wide protest.

Haha Doing that convincing is a lot of what I do on my blog.

I'm following you now.

that would be for sure

Thank you for your reply. I agree, there are some very powerful people who will oppose this idea. These are the people running the world. The problem is, when you look at it, they are running the world into a very bad place. It's not just their wars, but also their exploitation of the environment, and their exploitation of the people, (just to name a few), that is concerning. More than concerning. Threats of nuclear war are dangerous to our long term survival. I agree, they will oppose attempts to end war, but we must stand up for what is right. We may never have another chance to try.

Así es, siempre hay que intentar cuando se trata de una buena causa. Estaré siguiendo esta idea ;)

Rather than just following it, why not promote it? Best case you help bring about world peace, worst case nothing comes of it.

Edit: I have to apologise for using the word 'promote'. I'm new here, I didn't realize at the time that you can actually pay money to promote posts. What I meant by promote is the more classical meaning, telling people about it.

war ends all the time, and begins all the time on a global scale, personal scale, miscroscopic and supercosmic. We're part of a beautiful chaotic balancing act. Deepest acceptance x

Welcome to Steemit, I just wish you luck with that. End the war will be difficult, and through peaceful protest much more.

Isn't there a saying, something about anything worth doing...?

Welcome the new steemians. Have a great day!

Independence minimizes war as we are able to support ourselves through cryptocurrencies, as we can grow gardens, have solar power, do some free market trading, pump water out of rivers, etc.

Yes. I believe the technology is available to allow us to be independent. The problem is not technological. The problem is that there is a ruling class that exploits us. There is a ruling class that puts people in cages for using drugs that make them feel peaceful and loving. There is a ruling class that sends our kids overseas to fight wars for oil and opium. There is a ruling class that threatens the world with nuclear war. The problem is not technological. The problem is systemic, heirarchical. The problem is that we are being held captive by our war mongering leaders. We need to stand up to them, peacefully.

That is why the control freaks try to ban us off the Internet and we are winning and we win online but especially offline as we show people what we believe in and everything and that is powerful.

Yeah, they had an easier time maintaining control before we could talk to each other on the internet. They are trying really hard to reign in on all the free speakers right now. That's why it is so important that we all get out and speak even more and even louder. Now is our chance. Now is our time. Now is when the free peoples of Earth come together and put an end once and for all to tyranny and injustice everywhere.

Internet was meant to control us as was television, cable, radio even. Years ago, they were trying to end AM radio and only have FM radio but conservative and independent (non-globalist) people came in to keep and buy up AM radio stations like in the 90's to keep it going even as FM radio went off to do the main stream radio thing.

Those are indeed good intentions and only one road can be paved with them, sadly. Apart from that I do agree with most of your stuff and would be down with playing my part as much as the next man, yet I believe that the approach has to be a lot more structured and not "general" as it would strongly depend on circumstances. Although I believe that any good force has to be a "force" still.

No. I disagree. That saying is an oversimplification. Sometimes you do have to stand up for what is right. Look at the civil Rights movement of the sixties. Did it make things perfect? No, but things did get better. Now is like then. It may not be perfect when we're done, but things will get better. This is a clear path to global de-escalation of violence and de-nuclearizarion. It is a step in the right direction.

One must first end the war within

Yes, and once you are awake to the reality we live in, then it's time to come alive like a roaring lion.

Lets end war as a decentralised community, The centralised systems of solving conflicts commercialise the process for their own interests. This is a lucrative market for corrupt politicians and governments.

Posted using Partiko iOS

Yes. This is precisely how it will work. Decentralized community organization is key.

This is why leaders of this movement need to step up and self select. Anyone can lead, and many people must lead for this to work.

Imagine the military industrial complex, but decentralized on the blockchain! Deathcoin!
(that was a bad joke by the way, I am also pro world peace, and there should be a stronger peace movement)... Welcome to steemit! =)

I love that you have such a noble idea my friend.
Peace

Thank you. Now help make it a movement! It's an idea that needs to grow in the hearts of everyone. Help plant the seeds, please.

You can end war when you end the consciousness of it. War is an unfortunate inherent part of our human nature. “War is the continuation of politics by other means” - Carl Von Clausewitz

When you find out that war is nothing more than an internal hardwired intention in us then you can fix the problem. Let's face it, no one likes a person in their own back yard at 2am. The problem is human intention more than anything. That needs to be fixed before anything else.

So, unless you can end politics I would say you have an uphill battle of your own. That means the war on war. Oh wait? Does that sound correct?

Perhaps you can think about that statement. To say you want to end war would not be as functional as "I want to spread peace." I appreciate the post. The problem you are trying to fix will take years and new generations of getting destroyed to learn. Learning in the masses comes by either pain or education. War is hard wired in caveman as they fought against other clans for resources.

There was a young man walking down the street and happened to see a old man sitting on his porch. Next to the old man was his dog, who was whining and whimpering. The young man asked the old man “What’s wrong with your dog” The old man said “He’s laying on a nail”. The young man asked “Laying on a nail?, Well why doesn’t he get up?” The old man then replied “It’s not hurting bad enough.”

Human beings are like this...
Exactly as that, the pain would have to hurt as greater than anything for us to learn and take action. Otherwise peace will be a slow drip of morphine. I understand where your heart sits but there are deeper issues here. By no means should you stop your pursuit.

The world must have growing pains for this to occur. Pain does bring growth and this is completely ignored as being part of the human evolution. Chaos also brings order as well. I am not happy these things exist but they do. Opposition also brings concord. Out of discord comes the fairest harmony. I am not happy about it, but I understand it. It does not mean we can't bring peace, but it has to be a big enough shock for the whole a generation to feel. Change can come fast through shock and volatility.

“Some things benefit from shocks; they thrive and grow when exposed to volatility, randomness, disorder, and stressors and love adventure, risk, and uncertainty.”
― Nassim Nicholas Taleb, Antifragile: Things That Gain From Disorder

I appreciate your thought and good post. We can win through humanity and understanding who we are at the core level. Get to the core and you will find an answer. Find the answer and you will have to implement it on a grand scale. Implement and find that people will hate you and wage war against you. My heart breaks every time I hear about Ghandi. He did make a change. He also died for it. He did a good job.

I don't know if you follow Caitlin Johnstone at all. If not you should, she's really great.

Well, in a speech she gave a while back she made an important point to consider. "We are in an unprecedented situation", she said, " there are now 4.5 Billion people on the internet."

She points out that in an unprecedented situation we cannot pretend to know the outcome because it is something that has never occurred before. This is where we are now with the whole globe connected. Four and a half Billion people can instantly communicate a message to each other. Four and a half Billion people can instantly join a movement. All we need is to agree on something. I'm suggesting we start by agreeing to end war, (or to spread peace, that is a nicer way of putting it).

The point is, we can't look to history to predict the future right now. We are in the middle of something that has never happened before, and now, more than ever before, we are on the cusp of something brand new happening.

Further more, when it comes to things like this, even if it doesn't work out, it's still worth supporting. It's still worth trying just to be able to say we tried. Maybe the global elites crush this peace movement just like every one before it, but it's better to have tried and failed than to never have tried at all.

P.S. Here's a link to the Caitlin Johnstone Video I mentioned. https://caitlinjohnstone.com/2018/08/29/check-out-my-presentation-how-to-win-a-grassroots-media-rebellion-at-the-ron-paul-institute-conference/
