There are various places to learn other languages on the internet. Would it not be better to be proficient in a language in real life than to have a piece of paper saying you are? That's true, one can't live without a foreign language. I'm sorry to hear all of that. On the other hand, I believe that college isn't a magic pill. You will learn that it doesn't matter that much what people around think of you. Doesn't matter what you do, you will not make everyone happy. But you will not make yourself happy and that's much more important.
I don't know much about the culture in Vietnam, but I believe that everyone should do things that make them happy at first. Once you succeed, the people around will also start appreciating you, even much more than if you we trying to make them happy.
