sooo this is going to be more of an interesting feedback kind of post then informative...ok it's going to be a little informative from my perspective ;)
I use to be an absolute Facebook fanatic. I couldn't wake up nor go to bed without checking up on Facebook which sounds really sad, yes, but what also got to me was the fact that the published content was so repetitive that I literally saw the same post doing it's rounds a million times and the amount of "likes" on that post was probably the same person "liking" the same post several times...hmmm yeahh that's unique...annyways...the other issue I had with Facebook was the community, so you use to get your nice groups and always use to follow those group for the posts religiously...but you always get these "keyboard warriors" that go out of their way to prove someone else wrong and to start a fight, they just can't live and let live.
I haven't been on Facebook since I joined Steemit and I am loving every minute of it, I am contemplating "killing" my Facebook Account, but then my friends & family would lose touch with me, so I guess I have to introduce them to steemit ;)
Please let me know what your feelings are around the social media aspect of Facebook/Twitter vs Steemit...I sincerely apologize for the badly written post, I am completely drained and felt I had to squeeze a last post in for the day :)
Here is happeing the same! Since I am on steemit, my other accounts just lay abandoned in the net and I am thinking about deleting them. I wrote 2 days ago about it:

I can't stand facebook anymore. People rubbing their lavish lifestyle in others faces while hating on certain groups. The mindless videos play automatically now and only once in a while do I get to see some family photos which was what I most liked about facebook in the first place.

I asked multiple time to steem developer to make something like twitter and facebook, hope they will listen soon.
well that's the thing, they probably won't since they want to have a unique platform that differentiates them from the other platforms...who knows...
agree with your statement, but still give a bit touch of FB n Twitter. that will be good for user and i am sure will gather more users.

Facebook is absolute garbage. The amount of time I use it per day is like 5 mins. I do use messanger quite a lot though but not facebook itself. Facebook is a big waste of time and I hope many will realise this sooner or later. If not for messanger, I would've deleted facebook some time ago.

great post. I'm moving over from FB to steemit. Not really moving away but focusing on putting up quality content on steemit. I'm maxed on FB and use for family & friends mostly.

I have been in the IT Solutions industry for more than 10 years now, so I know about the late hours and no sleeping habits..lol it's kind of the reason why I love steemit so much, since it always feels alive regardless of what time it is.
When you say mingle? Are you referring to the steem chat "site" ?
I mostly mean commenting on other people's posts, however many enjoy the Steemit chats aswell! I only use it to promote my posts in the appropriate channels though, so I can't talk about personal experience on that front :-)
ok cool, well seems like you are doing really well so any assistance with regards to growing my steem presence is greatly appreciated! I have found my niche on this platform which is providing free IT Advice and solutions since I have literally dealt with every tech scenario out there...currently employed as the head of infrastructure at a large ISP (internet service provider) in south africa, so I am quite familiar with the internet environment, but I seem to have some difficulty in getting traction towards getting the attention from "whale" bloggers which I assume is whom you want to attract?

Yeah, I'm not that great at catching whales to be honest. I see some bloggers with low quality posts getting many big upvotes, while others with better quality get next to no attention. I don't know if there's more to it than luck/bad luck. I'm not one to suck up to someone, simply to gain their upvotes, but I feel some do. You could always check the Hot and Trending feeds and see if there are any interesting topics you know things about. Commenting there might help you get noticed from time to time. Maybe join in on an ongoing conversation in the comments.

Wow, I was literally thinking I was writing this post! FB is now full of drama (not a fan-had my lifetime share plus), friends sharing every moment of their day (I really don't care when you clean your house or what you are having for dinner) and all the reposts (how many times do I have to see the insurance guy eating the stinkest fish in the world?).
But I am sure at this point it is not something I can just delete. Boo! Like you, it is time to convince our FB friends and family to join this great forum (minus the drama).

I completely agree with your response...and it's funny that certain people post their entire life on the platform..I read a post once that ready...John Doe (For Example) posted this on his wall as his status....I've got nothing to say...Hmmm so why would you post or have a status that says I've got nothing to say....wow...annyways moving a long swiftly lol...the steemit community is awesome, loving every minute of it :)
I do have to say that Steemit is a different platform and could not necessarily be used to replace FB. Without FB, I would not have the opportunity to connect with family, friends and classmates from the past. But still love being here!
Hey Philip, I totally agree with you, look how long I've been on FB and have not earn one red cent, I have only been on a steemit since April and I have onbly curated and uploading a few blogs and my account balance is now nearly $50.
I too wil slowly stop using facebook, twitter etc and will now soley concentrate on Steemit.
You sound like a clever social media user indeed :), if only more people would adapt to that kind of mentality.

Live and Let live? Should we not engage in stimulating debates that will expand our minds? I've come to realize that many people are weak or easily intimidated or just don't want to exert the mental energy into discussing elaborately their views. Many people say they believe something but they don't really believe it's just that they have ignorantly accepted what their parents and community believe without second guessing it. And that is all well and fine, the problem arises when people take advantage of people's unchecked beliefs.
Is it moral to just let people live? If you see someone conning someone else will you intervene or let them live?
