Hmm, just the regular ones: Keep posting your blogs and don't forget to mingle :-)
Show you face on other posts and try adding interesting comments. None of this "Please follow/upvote me" stuff. (Though seeing as you're going through the trouble of asking, I think you have more sense than that anyway!).

I don't know the secret to big Steemit success, besides hard work :-)

Cool, thanks for responding with some meaningful information, I really do appreciate it! I have been in the IT Solutions industry for more than 10 years now, so I know about the late hours and no sleeping habits..lol it's kind of the reason why I love steemit so much, since it always feels alive regardless of what time it is.

When you say mingle? Are you referring to the steem chat "site" ?

I mostly mean commenting on other people's posts, however many enjoy the Steemit chats aswell! I only use it to promote my posts in the appropriate channels though, so I can't talk about personal experience on that front :-)

ok cool, well seems like you are doing really well so any assistance with regards to growing my steem presence is greatly appreciated! I have found my niche on this platform which is providing free IT Advice and solutions since I have literally dealt with every tech scenario out there...currently employed as the head of infrastructure at a large ISP (internet service provider) in south africa, so I am quite familiar with the internet environment, but I seem to have some difficulty in getting traction towards getting the attention from "whale" bloggers which I assume is whom you want to attract?

That sounds like a great niche!
Yeah, I'm not that great at catching whales to be honest. I see some bloggers with low quality posts getting many big upvotes, while others with better quality get next to no attention. I don't know if there's more to it than luck/bad luck. I'm not one to suck up to someone, simply to gain their upvotes, but I feel some do. You could always check the Hot and Trending feeds and see if there are any interesting topics you know things about. Commenting there might help you get noticed from time to time. Maybe join in on an ongoing conversation in the comments.

It's a funny thing with regards to certain posts being upvoted more than others or going viral..you read the post..and you sit back and think, geez I spent hours on my post and it made almost nothing whereas this post is great yes, but probably took a few minutes to compile yet it received a massive amount of upvotes and response...lol...will find the trick one day and will share it ;), well unless you find it first then please share your experience lol...thanks for the comment on random posts, I am going to give that a shot and well hopefully get noticed amongst the millions of people that are already on this platform.

Yeah, it definitely feels unfair sometimes! I guess that's mostly the people who have been here from the very start and gained a lot of followers and funds early on. People follow the big ones for big curation rewards, so they can post whatever they want and get these big upvotes.
