Nice to meet you Chris! I too am a martial artist, and have black belts in both Taekwon Do and Wu Wei Gung Fu. Wu Wei Gung Fu has tap roots in Jeet Kune Do (or Wing Chun). My Sifu was Joseph Cowles, who studied under Bruce Lee and was also a good friend of him. Until his passing a couple of years ago, he was still getting cards from Linda Lee. :)
I was teaching clear up until last spring but have since retired, focusing more on our more self sufficent, homestead life. Since I still have my studio though, I may consider holding a self defense class from time to time for women and children.
Anyway, nice to meet you and lovely photos! ~Heidi (AKA - Mrs. Rain)
Wow Heidi! Im sure i have seen video footage of your sifu before.. one of my favorite set of books sitting right next to me in my bookcase is Bruce Lee's Tao of Jeet kuen do and his 4 volume fighting method books published via Ohara publishing. the JKD concept is very inspiring to me and my over all goals in training martial arts skills. The homesteading side of things is of equal interest to me as well ! i have followed you and am greatly looking forward to seeing your future content. im very glad to have met you on here and thank you again for the lovely compliment on my photos. :) ~ Chris.
You probably have seen videos of him, he was also in Black Belt magazine several times. He was a wonderful man, very humble and always had great stories to tell of Bruce Lee. He passed away a few years ago, I think he was 85. We went to visit him in the hospital and he was trying to show my husband a good take down move to use on me! hahaha!
Hahaha, A passionate teacher right to the end. Those are some very valuable memories, Heidi. I am Glad to have been able to meet you here. your feed back and experiences will be of great interest to me as i work through posting my content. Varied perspectives are , to me some of the greatest tools for learning more about the things i love.
I am very pleased as well and looking forward to more great interactions :D
