I love Mexico. Almost settled there a few years ago, then flipped and ended up here. I was mostly in some mountain villages in Oaxaca (and in Oaxaca City, which I enjoyed). I'm missing the paisano cultures of the different countries visited in my five years of travel. The !BEER!Thanks for your welcoming comments, @stortebeker. Glad to know of your interest in permaculture and green building! The earthships outside of Taos are interesting. I visited Dennis Weaver's earthship in Ridgeway, CO, years ago. It was interesting watching worshipful petitioners grovel around him!

Sorry, you don't have enough staked BEER in your account. You need 24 BEER in your virtual fridge to give some of your BEER to others. To view or trade BEER go to hive-engine.com
Oh yes... Dennis Weaver, groveling worshipers, the whole Biotechture company... those are the aspects of Earthships I really could care less about! Still, it's part of it all, which is why prefer Earthship INSPIRED stuff.
Yeay to the mountains of Oaxaca! I'm actually thinking of checking out San Mateo pretty soon. Heard lots of great things about it.
Oh, well! You should definitely check out San Sebastian Rio Hondo, which is near San Mateo. Quite a gathering of expats there, doing some good things. Sadly, there's been a lot of deforestation in that area of late. I also stayed for awhile in Capulalpam, another very beautiful mountain pueblo SE of Oaxaca (near Ixtlan de Juarez). So many beautiful places!
Yes, I've heard of San Sebastian, though never visited. It's also up there in the San José del Pacifico area. Deforestation? That only calls for REforestation, so again an opportunity for doing good things. However, Capulalpam I've never heard of, so I may go to check it out some (other) time.
