Preamble - Cold Lady's Revenge
A Lawn Chair Story Freewrite
Hank left the gathering a little bit early. He loved playing the caped crusader for the kids at the local orphanage, but this year was really hard for him. It had been 8 years since he lost his Alice to a street thug. He stopped in at Mike's Liquor Emporium on his way home. He made his way to the second window down from the door, after chatting at Mike for a little bit. Hank knew Mike did not mind him coming in and looking out the window, Mike understood.
From the second window Hank had a nice clear view of her resting place. Mike always made sure no advertisements were placed in the window, and that the bottles and displays did not block Hank's view out the window. Mike did have people ask to place notices and such in the window, some to even pay for the space, but he always declined, when asked why he simply told them he liked the view out that window, which he did. One thing about cemeteries and graveyards, is that most of them are well tended.
Hank stood at the window thinking. "I'm sorry Alice, we still have not found the thug who shot you. It has been getting hard this last few weeks. It is retirement time, and I keeping thinking back to the dreams and plans and hopes we had for retirement. This was my last visit in an official capacity to the orphanage, the kids are doing great there, I know we could never have children of our own, and a single man who is a police officer stood no chance at adopting. I have followed Jessie's life as best I could she was adopted as I told you back then, this year she graduated from high school, did I tell you that already, she was class valedictorian, I was so proud of her. Her adoptive family did a nice job raising her. Well I really should get going Alice, I know Mike doesn't really mind me standing here, I just don't have the energy on this day to make it to your resting side. Tomorrow I'll be by and share a few of the pictures from the orphanage party with you. Love you Alice, and I will always see you in my dreams."
Hank walked away from the window and toward the door. "Thanks Mike, I appreciate the time", and with that he stepped out into the street, and continued on his way home. As he was approaching the alley way he thought he heard a cry from over by Alice's resting place, he paused and turned to look, and saw her looking frantic and in a panic, then he felt himself grabbed and his head being slammed into the wall.
Two hours later:
"Well, I'll be...I mean I have seen cold stiffs before, but this one is frozen solid like a Popsicle, What could cause that when it is 50 degrees out doors". The police officer remarked as they bagged the body for transport.
Keep going, @bashadow! This is very unique!, so I thought I would try to present a little bit about the Cop that had his head bashed in.I had a request to sort of fill-in continue, here was my prompt by @fitinfun
