RE: South Korean Moon Administration Cornered

in #korea6 years ago

I'm not a fan of the government, it's too populist for my liking and their foreign, energy, unification, and economic policies are not realistic. But the approval rating of the current president is more than the combined total of the last 3. I'm not sure what it will be at when he is done with his plans. After the dismal outcomes from the last 3 presidencies, I really hope he learns from the past and decides to actually try to mend serious political wounds in this country, but I strongly doubt any reconciliation given the current court cases against his former rivals.

I personally have doubts about the approval rating to be honest. I know that recently with the widespread SNS and mobile platforms, there are many fanatical followers. The group of fanatical followers are mostly the lower and middle class working class or those that are unemployed. Populist policies, such as minimum wage and DPRK related policies looks good on the outside, until people start to actually look at their bank accounts. Real estate policies to crush housing prices will back fire eventually.
Fiscal measures are excessive in my personal view right now. The entire administration is headed by incompetent idiots that frequently changes statements if things do not go as planned. Korean economy itself is at a cross road right now. If you have ever bothered looking at the Korean media, one notices that over 50% of the articles are related with North Korea. The ride on the Moon vessel is very similar of his boss, the president that committed suicide following DA interrogation.
